I can't wait to get updates on the meet - I was unable to attend but was there in spirit. And warrenpchi worked very hard... we are proud. wink.gif

Hi guys!  Finally "back" from the meet.  I had an industry thing at the same hotel on Friday morning, so my meet started one day earlier.  And the day afterward, a bunch of us continued hanging out:  breakfast, record shopping, hanging out and geeking on gear, pizza, listening.  It was like 5 different flavors of fun!  smile.gif

I heard the K701 on a Ray Samuels Darkstar - which is an AWESOME amp - but to be honest I can't remember what was driving the Q701.

billy, was it on the same table?  If you're talking about the little black one to the left of the Darkstar, then it's an ADL Esprit.

I think what most impressed me was the versatility of the amp - the low & high gain ranges would drive anything, and no matter what 'phones were plugged in, the amp always seemed to make the phones sound *better*. Of course, it also had all the connections you could ever want and it simply exudes quality - the switches and dials are all smooth as silk.

I find myself living that amp more and more each time I use it, but alas, it is gone for now.  Now I'm trying to sneak in a day or two with the WA7 before it goes back.  wink.gif

Welcome back Warren, where's all the funky pics of gear I'll never be able to afford because it costs just as much as a good slightly used Oldsmobile? In some cases it'll probably even cost just as much as a good new sports coupe. My how this hobby has gone high roller. Anyone interested in some excellent 50 dollar earbuds that can never died out?

Cameron is as commercial as they get. Avatar may hold the clue to making a manga or anime film into live action and not having it bomb to smithereeens. Then again nothing says Cameron is infallable.

As for the del Toro is not entirely to blame comment up there. I believe he had script approval in that contract so, yea, its all on you Gil, your script came from a kindergarten class.

Hellboy III or retire! I mean it man!evil_smiley.gif

Same here. It was called Turbo GT imported in France at that time. It was the luxury and I could not afford it...well I still had a Gameboy and Gamegear...

@ Warren

@Billybob

Going through the meet thread I got a glimpse of one of Peach Tree Audio's all in one rigs. I've been curious about them. Did you guys get to have a listen and did their stuff impress?

Lol, meet organizers are lucky to get one session in.  I had to choose that one rig VERY strategically, so nope.  frown.gif

No - you didn't have a pair of Q701 on your table, did you? The white pair Stan bought were the K701, right? And the other AKG on your table were the K240 (I think). I know I listened to some Q701, but I can't remember where.

I'm sorry - I was mostly focused on the 'phones because there were so many there that I had never heard before (umm, like ALL of them!) The electronics were really secondary for me and quite frankly, I just couldn't keep it all straight! redface.gif

No big deal, there's a local hi fi shop in my city which deals in Peachtree so it's only a matter of finding the time to go down and have a listen for myself.

Look out guys, there's a Paradox slowly rising in the south and it will eventually be heading north

I kinda did.  Stan liked my Q701 so much that he jacked it a few months back.  The notion was that he would get me another one later on to replace it - since I obviously didn't need it - having all the cans I have and what not.  So his (and my former) Q701 was there.

Oh BTW, that K701 is now mine.  biggrin.gif

So I'm really digging the Ety HF5. Granted, to get them to sound as good as I hear them now, I have to have them right on my eardrum. It's tolerable as long as I don't breathe too deeply.
