Sorry to hear about your loss. Your family has my prayers

Your kindness is noted. Do you know, he was likely one of the few and the only member who publicly acknowledge the significance of my ordering music from Stern's Music-Africa in London by phone or fax from Los Angeles. biggrin.gif Yes, I'm a music lover! Though, gears has it place. rolleyes.gif

Have you ever met him in person? He's in CA so I'm guessing he must attend the odd headphone meet.

Haven't met him yet. Looking forward to discussing World Music with him. Thought he was working and living in New York... not sure of myself, now.

Hopefully my health will still be good enough that I can make my pipe dream become reality.

Well, everything but the music right?  I think that stress management is probably your biggest hurdle from day-to-day.  As long as you can get through that, you have a pretty good shot I think.  smile.gif

That seems to be the general consensus.  A few of us were chilling out by the pool after T.H.E. Show, and the subject got around to cables, with more than a few people throwing in their recs for Blue Jeans.  I just got my hands on a Nordost Blue Heaven loaner, that I've been too lazy to swap-in all day.

There's three possible options in the US, and so far one in the UK.

US FTW!

Because I'm in the process of moving and stuff, my status is unknown. But will try like it's the last day I'll ever taste tongue_smile.gifsuper premium ice-cream.

Yes, must come to the L.A. Meet!  Again, can probably find you a ride and a bed to crash on, PM me.

Mike Dias is in California?!  I wonder if he's going to be part of the UE contingent coming to the L.A. Meet?

Are you sure he's (MD) not in New York?

Are you sure? Because of UE, I'm sure he often has to travel to Irvine, but AFAIK, he's based in NY.

It's possible I guess. When I was talking to him in PM he indicated he would handle my order personally and told me to address my impressions to Irvine CA saying attention M. Dias/Brian Gellar. He was rather taken aback that none of my inquiries were being answered by UE customer service so he offered to handle my order personally. I didn't even know UE had offices in NY. I know they're owned by Logitech and all but I thought Logitech was also based in CA.

He writes for UE, for their blog, their website, I suppose, and he handles head-fi related affairs because he's close to head-fi. However, AFAIK, he's not a part of the CIEM team. I suppose that the ATTN line would have his name on it would be so that Brian Gellar would know to copy him on information related to your order, but I don't think that necessarily means that he's there in their office. From what I've seen, he really only shows up in and around New York, because that's where he lives. I don't think UE has offices in NY. UE is based in Irvine, which is in southern California and Logitech's main US offices are in northern California.

Hey guys, maybe we should just ask Mike where he is?  Or, you know, we can keep guessing just for fun.  wink.gif

So for the past few days I've been playing around with an ADL Cruise.  These days, I have an almost instinctive reaction against gear that looks too pretty - what with the chrome and carbon fiber thing it's got going on.  But I must say that I'm starting to really like it.

For the first few nights, I had it in the bedroom as an IEM amp (doze-off listening, tablet Netflixing, etc.).  And while there was some hiss with low-imp/high-sens gear, I found the amp to be quite pleasing and melodic, never harsh.  Today, I decided to move it over to the desktop and check out the integrated DAC.  Not bad at all, quite competent, but nothing that will blow your mind.  Also, with most cans (in my case the K240 I had near me), the hiss fades to black.

All said, I think it makes a compact and attractive option for a simple nightstand or work desk rig.  I'll keep checking it out over the next week or so in case anyone's got any questions.  smile.gif

I was thinking more along the lines of a Where In The World is Mike Dias thing... but I suppose Waldo works too.  smile.gif

You'll be the first person I'm aware of who has both the UERM and the 4.A. I'll be interested in your impressions.

So the convention was fun but super exhausting. I have all these little snippets of video that I'm not sure I know what to do with. I ended up taking a lot of video of people in cosplay milling around at the food court or taking photos of other cosplayers (which is charming to me).

Here is the grainy iPhone photo of my outfit for the day for all those who demanded pics. It did happen.

Onesies are surprisingly warm and practical <3
