One could be part of the furry fandom and be an otherkin. The key distinction I think that makes for an 'otherkin' label is the genuine belief that one either WAS such a creature in a former existence, or one IS currently such a creature in some capacity. I think non-otherkin furries recognize / admit they are human, in other words.

As I was saying with a former post, I find the demographics and subsequent stereotypes that exist within fandoms rather fascinating. Especially with regard to furries, when certain people are prejudged by other furries based on their choice of fursona (kind of ties in with a_rec's post about music...). I think it's rather humorous that there are people with more 'exotic' fursonas who look down their noses snouts at people with more common ones. "Oh look, another fox / wolf / cat / dog" type thing. LOL.

It gets confusing.  Instead of a normal venn diagram with circles on a piece of paper I'm imagining at least a 4 dimensional space filled with Klein bottles or something.

A platypus would make in interesting fursona.  If I had to choose one I'd pick something as obtuse as possible.  The reaction I'd go for is, "What the hell is that?  I've never even heard of it."  Bonus points if after I show them a picture they insist that it was photoshoped.

Also, I just had this crazy idea of tracking down otherkin with Pokemon as their fursonas and "catching them all."  evil_smiley.gif  I'd be some kind of mad psychologist.

You're going to have quite the collection of 'stat amps...

And something that I just noticed from that ANV K702 is that they have replaced the bumpy head band with non-bumpy one.

There was a time many, many years ago when I enjoyed the likes of Led Zeppelin, The Who, AC/DC, The Kinks, The Stones, etc. However, I still enjoy the odd track here and there by those bands: I think Kashmir, Immigrant Song, Whole Lotta Love, Dazed and Confused, Black Dog, D'yer Maker, Stairway to Heaven, My Generation, Behind Blue Eyes, Baba O'Riley, Won't get Fooled Again, Let Me Put My Love Into You, Hells Bells, Dream On & Mia, to name but a few, are pretty good tracks. However, most of that music (and bands) eventually just didn't do anything for me.

It's over 30 years since I began to discover the music of KC & RF, and to this day their music still speaks to me even when I've been listening mostly to classical music for a number of years. These days I also find myself reaching for music by Van der Graaf Generator, Henry Cow & The Beatles. To me it's not just a matter of liking and disliking this or that band / musician, but about exploring different aspects of the human psyche through music—that's where my hunger for music has taken me throughout the years—and in that sense I've yet to hear a band / musician that covers more aspects of human nature than KC does.

You might enjoy these two tracks a bit more than the ones I posted before:

Though I stopped listening to Queen nearly three decades ago, I still find these tracks musically brilliant:

Yeah! With those selections you are very near one of my sweet spots. I went through an "album rock" phase in college - Queen A Night At The Opera, Beatles White Album, Led Zeppelin Physical Graffiti & Presence, Yes, early Genesis, Rush, Jethro Tull, etc. Those are all old friends... L3000.gif

I'm annoyed with myself for wanting the it as much as I do. Really it's due to those memories of the K701 I mentioned before, tugging at my heartstrings (while AKG tugs at my pursestrings).

I think it would have been awesomesauce if they released a 65th Anniversary K1000 with a light blue arc instead of red. I think I'm not alone in this sentiment, either.

You could always go with some kind of chimera that's part dingo, part mountain goat, and part cactus. Don't forget the Mary Sue / Gary Stu type powers which include some kind of psychic ability and vampirism.

And a kitsune tail in rainbow colors.

Just don't drift into sparkle dog territory by going overboard on the whole just-took-MDMA-and-drank-a-glowstick-at-a-rave color pallet.

For some reason, the Pokedex in that instance reminds me of Hipster Bingo:

As an aside I really dislike the term hipster, as it's become one of those labels people bandy about without any understanding of its connotations. It becomes a catch-all (speaking of Pokemen...) for pretty much any sort of outsider or intellectual, perpetuated on the Internet by people who have little idea of what they're talking about. Kind of like "emo." Hipster Bingo isn't too far off the mark however; I find it rather amusing.

I don't really know all that much from the bestiary though.

Otters are pretty neat.

As for vore, it's certainly an appropriate motif for anthro sharks. Represent.

That's an awesome illustration, but the way the tail works bugs me.

PS. Guess who is staying up for a really dumb thing or five?

It should be bigger proportionally and an obvious extension of the spinal column. Otherwise it just looks like a tiny shark swam up her butt. Also notice the disembodied right hand that is not connected to the body via an arm. Oh well.

Speaking of tiny sharks...

I'd get something like a Hello Kitty branded white/pink TMA-1 if it existed.

For whatever it's worth, the iPhone 5 is official now. Woo. Queue the techblogs going to flames with all the news about it for 5 months about it changing the smartphone world and it's the best thing since sex. Woo.

I'm watching the liveblogs while listening to Xiu Xiu, and every now and then I drift and actually listen to the lyrics. It's incredibly unsettling late night music.

I'm planning on getting one. It's worth not getting into an argument about here.

(Edit: On consideration: What's going on right now is the sales pitch. It is full of hype. This is what sales pitches do. Jeff Bezos was doing the same thing last week with the Kindle demo (where he scooped Apple on some of the more interesting tech that Apple's demoing right now. That was able to pass without snarking too, so thanks.)

I'm enjoying the Engadget feed for its dry wit, with gems like:

"The speaker has a 5-magnet transducer. That's three more magnets in your transducer. Each one a mystery."
