The diary entries of a little girl in her 30s! ~ Part 2 - Page 90

All are splendid looking cars, and I particularly like the look of the Jaguar XKR. It looks so "IN YO FACE". Got the same impression of the F-Type too. Admittedly I know jack **** about cars, so there's that.

As for the California, I guess it's a personal thing. It's definitely the worst looking modern Ferrari I've seen in person. The F12 Berlinetta looks very nice, though.

Oh, no doubt the One-77 is a truly amazing piece of kit. Aston has been very hush hush about it, not letting any journalists test it, only reserving it for the elite who reserved one for themselves. However TopGear got ahold of one thanks to some crazy Middle Eastern car collector who loaned it to them. Apparent the gearbox is really lacking compared to others in that God-tier of cars. It just doesn't do it justice. Apparently Aston was in a hurry and had to compromise on it to get the car out in time.

That's nothing new for Aston, really. The first Vanquishes had rubbish gearboxes too. Otherwise, brilliant cars.

I think I'll be giving the UE 900 an audition after all. I haven't really been keeping up with the IEM world, but I'm also looking forward to the Sennheiser IE800 and FAD Heaven VI.

What do you guys think of this? http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/28/3422018/neil-young-pono-audiophile-music-player-prototype-on

I think anybody who bought into that is kind of dumb.

I'm guessing they're specifically introducing colouring into the sound and not actually "convert" them per se.

Interesting that he got the major label companies on board. So might be able to get higher res tracks then? Because I'm guessing that you'd need the master file or something to make a high res version, and not just take what's already out there and magically add something that's not there anymore.

That's pretty silly

So they admit that digital is more accurate than vinyl because of...

He said in that interview that they were getting access to master tapes...he mentioned a couple of the early Dylan albums were being transferred.

That said, I doubt my ears would hear any difference between CD-grade 16-bit 44.1khz and anything higher.

And I doubt that I can too, tbh. But with access to such tapes, maybe they can produce not-****ed-up-DR versions?

Just pre-ordered the 8GB model. Holy snap, it looks neat.

A roadster would be awesome in the PNW. It's not really a convertible weather kind of place. Unless it's your second car for the three or four days a year that you can put the top down...

I have to say the UE 900 is the first mass-produced IEM to intrigue me in a while. Not enough to make much effort towards buying one one, but if the opportunity to listen to one happened, I'd exploit it.

As for the Pono Player, I don't know anything about it. But Neil Young is, despite appearances, extremely attentive to audio technology and sound quality. I wouldn't offhandedly dismiss something he endorses. If it falls short, it won't be for lack of serious effort.

I'm partial to Aston as well --- you could go for the really, really, really irresponsible option of the One-77... and then justify the purchase with a Cygnet iQ. biggrin.gif

Then again, I'm pretty sure all 77 are spoken for...

Alfa has delayed their comeback to the states

Jaguar XKR:

The front end of the Jag reminds me of an executioner's hood. Which is f'kin awesome.

Then there's the "be really irresponsible" option of getting an Aston...

Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster:

Aston Martin Virage Volante:

And the new V12 Vantage Roadster:

I'd definitely get these in something other than white. Some kind of darker grey or blue-grey color.

Then there are some really awesome new releases on the horizon, like the updated F-Type Jag:

And finally, though not a convertible, the return of one of my all time favorites...

The Aston Martin Vanquish:

Please ignore the poop color that Aston has chosen for this render. In my humble opinion, the only proper color for a Vanquish is green:

As seen on the DB4 Zagato.

Not enough Astons on the road whilst there are billions and billions of XKs on the road driven by bank managers
