The diary entries of a little girl in her 30s! ~ Part 2 - Page 822

Man it's dead on here tonight. Seems like everyone has a social life except me. Guess I'll throw on my customs, crank some relaxing chillout and soak my throbbing feet. My dogs are barking tonight.

I think it's because Warren found something else to do tonight :P

Me, I'm watching Austin Powers and making forced conversation.

Oh, and my friend gave me a CD to try out.

It's okay. Dunno much about this sort of stuff though.

Also plans to make some seolleongtang tomorrow, after watching re-runs of Shining Inheritance.

Only if I don't get lazy and get distracted perusing some niche audio fetish appreciation society site with a penchant for fitting things inside of ears.

I'm quietly waiting for midnight... to blast... some Afrobeat. wink.gif Got K-mok lined up for Sunday night.

The XBA-1's sound the same but will now give you a sense of inner calm and health.

It's 1 am on this side of the screen. Time for me to crash for the night. The idea of staying up late and mellowing to some Kruder and Dorfmeiser into the wee hours is appealing but unfortunately I have work tomorrow. God bless guys and good night.

Should have used real coffee for extra lushness.

Under no circumstances should instant coffee be used.

I am amazed at the number of people who have nistant coffee with a teaspoon or two of sugar.

Two examples of granulated poison in one dose....

Could have also used some pineapple juice for a more exotic fruity sound

The juice doubles up in keeping the cerumen at bay.

Remember Skillet mentioned the other day?

They're pretty up my alley.

Actually I've been busy, well, working. On the positive note, got a free netbook, so I am probably going to upgrade the hard drive to SSD and the RAM, and throw a Linux distro on. I've been needing a little plinker laptop, so this helps me immensely. I've been training for a new barista job at some high end cafe in my area, and boy, do I really wish one could make a decent living out of it. Sound engineer when contracts are in, barista the rest of the time. Even though I love tea and know so much more about it, I have been a barista for around 4 years now, and can safely say when you pull a perfect double shot, it is a magical thing.

I also have a trade on the way, the Sony MDR-7550's biggrin.gif I'm hoping a shallow universal fit will feel better to me, because deep insertion just has been uncomfortable. Actually, how do you even say that without innuendo? That aside, I really hope I like them. I want to keep them as an alternative to when my CIEMs are done for when I need less isolation.

That's another point: the only audiologist in my area is around 2 hours away. My truck is lucky it can hit 50, much less 65. I swear, if I don't get a ride to bum in the next week I just might cry D:

I'm really sleepy, and feel my thoughts are disjointed tonight. I also have quite a bit to do in the morning, but if everything goes right my PS1 will be done. Sadly, I still need to figure out why my CF modded Ipod Mini is freaking out on me in Rockbox. Ugh.

Goodnight all, sleep well (or have a good morning!)

SEE IT ALL FITS. I ain't no conspiracy nut!

On a serious note I'd love to talk about how I'm hankering for Sapporo Miso ramen but that'd just devolve into food talk again.

Speaking of which I made my own Ramen noodles from scratch. Made the noddles and dashi. It was a PITA but very tasty and worth it in the end :). Sliced up some carrots, fish cake and green onions.

Once you go to a SSD its hard to go back :). I'm very impatient so that doesn't help either. I have a 256 GB 840 Pro from Samsung. I love the 5 year warranty they provide. Samsung FTW!

The MDR-7550s are very good IEMs. I won't be surprised if you like them :).

Last hour: went to fire up some FELA and Tony Allen, as I'm fired up yes.gif for an overnight session.

Cannot locate my iPod. mad.gif

I agree the treble can get a  bit aggressive on certain tracks. Rock music can sound really good but also can go way overboard on the treble depending on the songs. These IEMs are not nice to poorly mastered tracks at all. Try give "Memories" from within temptation a listen. Toward the last verse of the song the treble just really goes overboard. It's in part due to the track as well but on other IEMs its not highlighted so much lol. Also Godsmacks "Voodoo" and "I Stand Alone are problematic.

Just managed to get deutsche grammophon flac download to work. There goes my wallet. I'm kind of interested to compare a cd rip to downloaded file though as I think I have finally got cd rips to sound good. I have superstitions about these things. In any case it's a pretty convenient way to access lossless classical recordings where the CD equivalents are hard to come by locally.

Carpet installation next week will also be a pain. Somehow I will need to source a granite slab between now and the carpet installation. Silentone may be able to sympathise. Guess I can use a granite chopping board for the interim...

As a long term goal I'm considering empirical audio's OffRamp with an I2S connection, just need to make sure the connection can be configured for my DAC.

The new ibasso dap looks tasty. Kind of wish they went all out and copied the ak120 instad of the ak100 biggrin.gif. Guess that will have to wait. In any case the dx50 may very well be my next dap unless the new hifiman dap has low zout.

I don't really read many other threads these days...
