I started with a question mark but it seemed a little sad. A box reminds me of a companion cube. When I think of the word 'thing' I tend to think of a box, not a circle or any other shape oddly. There is something so bluntly thinglike about an oblong.

Huh, now that you mention it, it is quite difficult to convey "thing" in graphic form. Maybe make the box a bit more larger, like the size of the heart? Or maybe make it the size of the current heart, downsize the heart a bit, and put a question mark in the box. Since I thought at first that was an oversized pixel...

No argument there, but I still think the car itself is cool in and of itself.  Looks a damn sight better than any other electric/hybrid... with the obvious exception of Teslas and the possible exception of the Focus electric.

well any who as it is useless I am not getting it.....

Well, I don't know if it's totally useless or not... but at that price I think it's probably not worth whatever benefits you would expect.  My next $100 in side money is going towards either the JVC HA-FXD80 (per a_rec's recommendation) or an RE-400.

If only the K550 sounded like how I would like it to sound; then it would be a prize jewel in my collection. :P

Yay!  Based on your description, I think I kinda like that thing.  A closed-back K/Q?  Sure.  If I pair that with my O2 it can also double as a glass cutter.

Thread Starter

I wanted to make another music dump post, part 2 of who-knows-how-many, but I'm feeling kind of lazy.

New Wild Nothing EP came out this week, along with the new Dracula Holiday Vampire Weekend. I've never actually liked Vampire Weekend enough to get excited about a new album from them, but I'll give it a shot nonetheless.

Next week it's The National's new album.

Then three weeks later the new Boards of Canada OH YES.

Lemme tell you, one of the biggest potential money sinks in this hobby is developing a vacuum tube addiction. Prices have gone up quite a bit to where a pair of matched 6SN7s can set you back over $200.

The Liquid Glass makes tubes way more fun than they have a right being. For instance I'm perusing an assortment of types I've never tried, some of which are fairly inexpensive as under $20 for a matched pair. I think I might dedicate a new segment of diary entries to talking about different types of tubes.

Also really intrigued by a Chinese manufacturer called Psvane who makes replicas of highly regarded tubes from throughout the 20h century. Since the Electra will be arriving in the next week or two, I'm thinking of picking up a quad of them for $400.  ;_____;

The JVC and RE-400 have both caught my attention.......

Lets see if I can squeeze some money out of my guitar budget.....

That said, anybody here have recommendations for jazz with prominent double-bass/cello (??). I just love the sound of it.

Try to look for Lynn Seaton for one.  If you can't find anything, I can send you rips.  Also check out Dave Holland and Miroslav Vitous. Dave Holland in particular is one of my favorites.  Not all of it will be bowed, but there's some good stuff there.  Oscar Pettiford is also one hell of a player.

I've got some of the newer Psvane 6SN7's (they might be branded as CV-181's, I can't remember) as well as some of the Shuguang Treasures.  The quality is pretty good.  Psvane also sends you measurements.  Anyway, +1 on the LG tube rolling fun.

I appreciate the vote of confidence there buddy, but I'm probably going to choose one.  If nothing else, I'd have to at least choose one to be first.

I wouldn't be surprised if that already have.

This is a fabulous idea!  I would imagine their in-house "museum" of genuine articles to be quite a visual feast.

I know which one I'm supposed to get, but I'm honestly leaning towards the FXD80 right now.  This is partially because I need a bit of "fun" right now, but also because I've heard the RE-400 already.  Granted, it wasn't the best of auditions, but enough to take all the mystery out of the signature.  Subtleties will have to come later.

I was looking around and I think I'll add the SE215 Special edition to my list....

They look awesome.....

I hear they are a bit bass heavy(I want a bass heavy IME)......

Detachable cable.....

If you are looking for something almost flat look into the XBA-1......

I loved mine till I lost them......
