I wish I knew. The K167 is twice the price of the K618dj.

Going by AKG's past, probably a funked out color (hopefully orange this time), and his name on the cans.
I very much want this. (but I still dream of making a neon-orange Razer Orca with a driver transplant + other mods...
)
Yeah right? In fact an orange/grey/white combo would be outstanding (not unlike your midi controller).
I really want to try these.
I had to, it's a xmas present for my son. I didn't want to pay an inflated prices if it stays sold out.
Also, I recently bought a WS55 for cheap on Amazon.

Fantastic! if it's anything more sonically than the K518, you might just end up keeping it.
(Also, The thicker looking pads and improved 3d-Axis should make it more comfortable to wear, me-thinks.)
I'll make sure to add your thoughts and impressions to the OP and 2nd post, respectively.
No worries! I was merely making a playful reference to your restraint and surprising retention of real-world priorities. We'll make a "real" audiophile out of you, yet...![]()
If you ever do get a pair, please post what you think of them here!
again, I just want to mention that I will compile ANY and ALL impressions from those that have listened, whilst giving credit where it is rightly due.
(For example, ViralCow has already been credited for the K619 photos in the OP)
Can't wait for the 619 to be released in the states.
The orange one looks very nice.
I hope you enjoy them. A positive impression or review would be great, but really be honest about them. If these aren't worthy of praise, then give them none. Un-boxing photos (or at least a picture of them in real life) would be greatly appreciated. I'll definitely make sure those end up in the OP, and not just in the space reserved for impressions.
Also, I am not too familiar with Purrin's exploits over at his forum on Changstar, but it would be nice to get some decay plots and response graphs posted here. I think that having decent visuals may help move our discussion along nicely.
Listening to the K619 right now.
Definitely a bass heavy can. They are also very crisp though. Mid-range is fairly well-defined as well. Not going to win any accuracy contests, but they are pretty fun to listen to. They seem to be pretty well made, especially at this price point. Clamping force is a little harsh. I will report back on long-wear comfort later, though the ear pads do a decent job dissipating the pressure. One odd thing. I have to fully extend the adjustable headband to fit my head. Never had to with any other headphone, so this leads me to believe some may find these to be too small.
That's the same issue some have had with the K81.
I will say that build quality is much better than the K81. That's not really hard though...
EDIT: Literally just tried on a set of K81's. Exact same thing. Had to fully extend to fit my head. Weird.
Yep yep, I'd imagine there would be an upgrade on the BQ.
