Trying to improve audio from movies on pc, help needed

Hi, im new to the whole high(er) end audio world and have been reading on and off for the past few weeks.

now that i have been exposed to the different quality of sound i am very desatisfied with what im hearing, i have Senn's HD238 with onboard audio (asus p8z68 v pro/gen3).

the sound level is low and not very clear.

my main goal is to have the best sound i can get within my budget for movies and vidoes i watch from my pc.

 

i have been looking at getting Sennheisers HD555 or 558. and in addition to that am willing to spend another 100-120$ on maybe a new sound card or amp.

 

- are these headphones good for watching movies, if not do you have any suggestions?

- i am confused about getting a new sound card like the xonar d1/dx and an amp or and external dac/amp like the Fiio e10 or the Nuforce uDac2.

  do those external dacs support dts or dd for watching bluray movies?

 

any other variations/combos or tips would be a great help..

So you're looking for a headphone recommendation with maybe a new soundcard/AMP/DAC?

The Asus Xonar DG sound card ($25) can drive the Senn HD558 (50-Ohm).
