Cosmic Ears - new CIEM company with great prices (including Hybrid designs!) - Page 55

I received my Twin BA's on Friday and I'm very happy with them - they're my first CIEMs so nothing to compare them with, but I'm well pleased so far. Unfortunately I'm not so great at describing the sound, but to my ears they are very detailed, not very bassy and sound very good from my Rockboxed Ipod - they are in fact, the exact sort of sound I was looking for. The build is good and the fit is perfect. Phil has been great throughout, both before and during the order - answering questions quickly and emailing if there was a delay (due to cable stock) - he even did me some spins gratis because the final QA was delayed by a day! All in all, great customer service and a great product at a very reasonable price.

Some spins...

Great stuff. Lovely to hear that you are so pleased with them.

My HY3 are now in the UK, so I am expecting them approx Wednesday by the time they have got from the mainland to Northern Ireland and to my place of work.

Can anyone compare bass - mid - treble quantity between the single and twin?

Do we know if the triple ba has a triple bore design?

It hasn't been mentioned but I kind of doubt it. Just guessing though.

My HY3 arrived today, earlier than I expected. Will need a day or two with them before posting initial impressions. Some hours of listening ahead :-)

Awesome, make sure they aRe burning in when not listening as well!

Received my Flex single dynamic driver today and WOW. To early for first impressions. But hey the sound out of the box is really good. Bass extension is very good with low notes going down to around 20-25Hz. Yes there is an audible roll off from maybe 35-40Hz down to 20Hz but it is very minor. In song Bass I love You by BassoTronics I can hear this crazy low rumble that can bee seen in sub-woofer tests on youtube with big driver flexing. The transition from low to midrange seems very nice without artificial midbass emphasis. There is almost none bleed of bass into midrange that helps to hear vocals without muffle. Midrange is a bit recessed, not that much to worry about. Highs seems smooth and just the right amount I like. There is a nice headroom and it is a pleasure to listen at low volume levels. With dubstep and electronic music bass can show off in a good manner with nice quality to it. Fortunately with vocal and classical music low end doesn't rule the scene and on the contrary complements it.

Take those (out of the box) impressions with a pinch of salt. Those drivers need some burn-in.

Best regards.

Alex

Will do so, Swimsonny. This is not only my first ever CIEM, but also my first time listening to a Hybrid, so I am going to need a day or two to acclimatise cool.gif

They will be tortured every night with a playlist of Infected Mushroom, Skazi, Shpongle, Tori Amos, Cradle Of Filth, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tool and perhaps a little classical Wagner too, so that they can prepare themselves for my eclectic musical tastes biggrin.gif

Nice to see some more people getting their ciems back.  Would those who have got them in recently mind making a comment on what the fit and comfort is like please?  Any fit problems or is it first time?

Cheers

I have had mine in for 4 hours solid today, fit seems OK so far, certainly no danger of them falling out, even when exercising. Comfort, as you might expect from a CIEM is very good. I am probably not the best person to comment on comfort though, as I usually have very few issues with fit, comfort and isolation, even from universal IEM's.

The fit in my right ear is not quite as tight as the left one, but does not seem to be affecting isolation any, I am going to continue with them for a week and see if the right hand ear fit is any sort of issue, or whether it is just my ears needing to adjust. Certainly, I would go as far as to say that I have no serious concerns with fit, isolation or comfort at this point in time.

This being my first pair of CIEM's, they feel like nothing I have had in my ears before, so I suspect it will take me a day or two to adjust to them being there. They feel completely different to having a universal in your ear. Not in a bad way, just different :-)

EDIT: Just to say also, my impressions were done open mouth with a bite block.

It is my first time with CIEMs. There was a strange feeling with first insertion. Thought maybe the fit problem. But after 10-15 minutes ears accomodate to this. Comfort is very nice and isolation is very good. No comparison with any earbuds, just miles ahead. After little more time with them I can wear them even better.

My flex micros were spot on fit-wise! I have no problems wearing them hours on end. I did the impressions with closed mouth and I have to say I'm happy I did!

I think he is having some mail issues. He normally responds to me within a day or so, but it's been a few days by now. I know he was out of town but I suspect other technical issues. Just keep trying.
