Cosmic Ears - new CIEM company with great prices (including Hybrid designs!) - Page 154

Thank you for the reply. But what do you mean too much detail? I'd like some very detailed iems otherwise i could just stay with the pures. There can be alot of detail in the midrange too, it doesnt neccesarily mean top end extension, right?

As for the bass. I don't want too much either. I think the pures have a nice level. It doesn't extend too deep that it becomes tiring but they have a little rumble to it what's nice.

What I particulary like is the soundstage. My current fidelio x1 has a soundstage of over 180 degrees and sound very far away, while things like voices sound close. These pures have a max soundstage of around 160 degrees and most happens at about 110 degrees. Do you feel the same? :)

Are you going to listen to the ba3's sometime?

Sounds like the BA2 might be a good candidate then. I've got the MA2 in the small shell but the sound should be very similar. It's got plenty of clean, clear midrange AND top end, and is not aggressive or shouty in the least. I imagine you'd really enjoy it, especially considering the price - it isn't "cheap" but compared to most entry level CIEMs it's definitely affordable.

I really love my Pures (single dynamic) The sound sig is good and the soundstage is even better. What would be a good upgrade from this? I'm thinking the ba3 but i'm not sure. I prefer no 5-7khz peak. I think hybrids will not be an option since phil said that the hy3 won't fit, but then again my impressions weren't good (my pure doesn't fit that good either) so maybe it might fit if I send new ones. And when will the new cables arrive? I love the looks of it and will definately wait until they are available.

For reference, I love grado rs2i's great soundstage and air. I love senn's hd518 and 650's sound.

Did he say the BA4fs would fit? If so, I do suggest them, even though they won't sound laid back, they will definitely be an upgrade.

Thanks for the reply! I'll think about it. :) My worry about ba2 is that it wont be 'high-end' enough to justify. If it won't be i'd just buy another ciem in the next year. Owning three ciems would be too much :)

The pures would always keep their purpose because they are awesome at the loud work environment i'm in. I could just use the ba2 for that but then the pures would have no purpose.

Ahh well we'll see. Maybe first a nice DAC or the fiio x3.

I can see that line of thinking - go big and then you won't worry about buying something else. In that case maybe wait for the BA3 or BA5. But as I listen to the MA2, I find myself very pleased with its performance, and don't often second guess it or wish for more. It's a nice sounding IEM, period, and I like how it has flaws of omission rather than problem areas like harshness or bass bloat.

You could always go for a set of ma2's which are a bit different and see if you like them, just gutted my ear shells aren't big enough for them.  Might be quicker and easier to put in and take out at work anyway!

If it's any consolation I'm quite envious of your pures.  Sure they might not be the best thing around but for the price and if they fit well then I'd of loved a pair as that's entirely the purpose for what I want to use them for :)

Does anyone know the date of when CE go on holiday?  I'm praying that they get my ma's sorted fairly quickly but not sure if it will happen or not.

Cheers

That's sick looking, do us regular customers have to pay extra for the marble look?

OMG, what an awesome job he did with these ciems. Wonderful looking. Also pretty long canals too. Isolation must be very good too.

Canal length is medium, maybe slightly longer than "average". It does look quite long in that picture though! My canals are on the large side and pretty deep, so maybe what I consider average is long for someone else.

Does Phil build his ciem with musicians fit?

Phil will build them maximum length if you ask before sending them (or at least he did with me).  They were almost TOO long though as the canal part fit but the shell didn't.  Though I'm beginning to wonder if I had put them in right!

One quick question though.  I've been playing with the fit of my tf10's and can now get a fairly good comfortable fitting.  However the isolation is nowhere near what I've read about from customs.  The seal also breaks fairly easily if I open my mouth.  Does this indicate that the fit is good but the canals need thickening up a bit?

Cheers

Were the impressions made with a biting block?
