Thanks, I've spent years reading Head-Fi, figured I ought to try and contribute some.
Good idea re' the cables by the way, I'll def' try that, although I think the 'phones are ok, it's probably my ears.
I think you may be right re' the model, I'm happy either way as it's still pretty bassy. ( I'm a closet basshead, gotta love that dubstep )
I may change my mind about the sig' as I get used to them, but I'd rather come to a conclusion then ask which I've got.
Thanks to all who read the write-up, hope it helps people decide which model to get.
I'll write more about the sound in a week or two.
In the meantime I'm intrigued as to what the mystery new product 86 and Sonny are teasing us with.
My money is on a recliner with built in Basskickers.
Or am I the only one who'd buy that?
Dogs and headphones just don't mix
Well, it seems that my opinions on the sound of these monitors will have to wait a bit longer...
Dammit, why did my first ever pic' post have to be THAT?
The other one's cracked too :-(
Thankfully the dog owner offered to pay for replacement immediately.
I used to like dogs.
It doesn't look so bad.... a little tape, perhaps some glue, and you'll be back in business. Right?
Seriously though, just think about how you would feel had that been a $1,000 custom IEM. That's exactly why I prefer to take my entry level CIEMs when I leave the house.
Here's hoping you get it replaced quickly and without hassle.

How in the world did that actually happen?
I'm sorry for you, it must really suck to have those nice new CIEMs already broken, at least the owner was nice enough to offer replacing them.

Blimey thats ruff (sorry)!
Hopefully cosmic can turn them round a bit quicker this time if you explain the situation (or you can put the replacement money towards the big announcement tomorrow if you feel like it!).
Cheers

Wow, that's tough. Did a dog bite it? I've always wondered how strong CIEM were. Could they withstand a direct fall on concrete without breaking? Or maybe an accidental "sat on my CIEMs" scenerio?
The dog was pretty excited as my friend and I bumped into each other in a local park. The dog jumped up on me ( I didn't even see it coming ) and caught the cable of the CIEM with it's foot, the cable got yanked, the monitors fell to the surfaced path and burst like a lightbulb.
Brad, the owner of the dog was really great about it, which is just as well, as even a relatively cheap monitor like this is living beyond my means if I'm honest.
I'd bought them for home use really, but was keen to see how the isolation was in noisy environments, so took them out.
I only need CIEMs because my ears burn after a few minutes of wearing headphones ( literally every 'phone I've tried does this, closed open, whatever ).
I also seem to have a slight allergy to the silicone or whatever is used to make buds, as my ear canals itch like crazy after using them.
The CIEMs seemed to have avoided both these issues without compromising quality or bass response too much.
I'm sold on customs, and wish I could get silicone models, but I suspect I'd get itching in the canals with them.
Oh well...
Wow that's bad. The worst I've ever had is our Roomba robotic vacuum cleaner trying to eat one of my customs. It mangled the cable but the IEMs themselves were fine.

I'd thow that guy out of my house if that happened to me!
Q Mass, your friend was nice enough to do what he was supposed to! It's also nice to now that the dog wasn't harmed in that event... Better luck next time!

We're always happy to see the innards of a CIEM, but you didn't have to go that far.

Now that you can clearly tell...
Which model did you have again? If it's a BA pair, is it a Knowles?
