Well, I do prefer blue, but I saved that for the hybrid triple driver model. And I already have purple for my Pure models.... leaving only red or pink as choices. And I don't have a CIEM in this type of red, so it works for me.

 

Micro shell can only accommodate single or twin BA drivers. No dynamic and no dual/triple BA either. It's just too small for that.

Dunno - maybe they would do a top exit if someone asked? I do seriously dig the bottom exit though.... it's more microphonic, but in exchange you can comfortably lay down without worrying about your delicate connection or memory wire. And it's quick/easy to insert/remove. It totally makes sense for a lower priced model that would be used more casually.

Asked Cosmic Ears about the micro shell with detachable bottom exit. They said it is quite difficult due to the small size of shell. This option is not available at the moment but they are working on.

But a memory wire wouldn't be necessary. The Atrio I'm using at the gym doesn't have one. I also used the HF5 with the cable over my ears, and it doesn't have a memory cable either.

 

Among customs, one can think of Sleek Audio:

(This cable is removable, but just imagine that it isn't. tongue.gif)

No memory wire. If the cable is angled right, a memory wire becomes useless.

 

Could you bring this matter to Cosmic Ears? They might consider it as an option.

Yeah, I get what you are saying. I was just comparing my Pure/Pure Plus with the downward exit, to the rest of my top exit/detachable/memory wire customs. They both have their uses. 

 

Cosmic probably could do it over the ear though, using the same cables, and it would work. My Lear customs use a cable (detachable though) with no memory wire and it seems to work for my ears. The trick is making the cinch tight enough to keep pressure on them, without getting too tight and strangling myself.

When I'm out and about, I wear the cable like a necklace, with a Sansa Clip Zip as the pendant:

Project86 can you explain the difference between fixed bottom exit standart cable (Pure model) and compare it with regular CIEM detachable cable. What are the downsides and advantages? How is durability, comfort, ease of use on both types. I am concearning about fixed cable that it won't live a long life and also repair is needed if broken. With detachable cable u can just replace it. If usage is versatile (home, gym, transport, office, outside) then what type would you suggest. As for price difference between Pure (fixed) and Sport (detachable) model, it is only 16$ and is irrelevant to the question. In two words I'm just asking if there is a point to take the fixed cable version for versatile all day anywhere usage.

Although I've read elsewhere here on head-fi that a re-shelled TF10 sounds much the same as a universal?

My fingers are still crossed for those first impressions from 86 and Sonny.

I like lots of tight, propulsive bass that grips like Mike Tyson, combined with fairly prominent, liquid mids and detailed but smooth highs.

All the descriptions of the LCD2 phones make me think they might be the perfect sound for me (I've never heard any yet though).

It's a shame they're massively expensive circum's, and not affordable CIEM's.

My order status changed to shell modelling today! Quite satisfied with this considering that I placed my order September 19 (late evening) and since then I have recieved, made, and shipped back my ear impressions. I take it they have quite a few orders in the lab atm. much thanks to this thread. I don't have rush order either.

Really looking forward to my Flex micro twin BA's!

That is fast. They received my ear impressions two weeks ago. However, it has been 10 days since Cosmic Ears changed order status to shell modelling. No idea why it takes so long to move on to next step.

 

edit: Got a fast response. The delay is because I have two separate orders and they tried to put them together. Also, it takes more time to model/create two different size shells.

I kinda went standard standard with my order. Stock cable and purple micro shell. 

edit: and as I check now (6h later), status is Electronic assembly :)

Good stuff, sounds like they are moving right along. 

 

Mine (micro shell in red, twin driver, stock cable) left Sweden a few days ago on 9/26, so I hope to receive it this week. Since you are so close, yours might get to you just as quickly or maybe even before me. Lucky.

That's relatively fast, how long did the shipping & order processing take without making the impressions?

Aren't cosmic ears in Tyresö? I was wondering if it would have been possible to go there in person, to avoid dealing with shipping there and back when it's so close! You wouldn't have happened to ask if that was a possibility by any chance?

Yeah Tyresö is like 20km from where i live :D (I live on Södermalm). I was thinking about it, but it's been a hectic time at work for me so I decided to just take the easy way and do it all by mail. Recieved the kit in 1,5days and when I mailed them back Phil recieved them 4 days later (I mailed them on a Saturday so 2 days really don't count). I did not ask Phil about any possibility of going there in person the get the kit/make molds on the spot.

Still reading up on this thread, but I'd just like to say how I really liked how he used the word recessed. First of all, it's a good break from the usual "crystal clear-highs, powerful bass, etc" that gets printed on every 30$ headphone box. This tells me the designer is honest, he's not trying to fool anyone. If these sound recessed, good, some people want more upfront mids, others will enjoy a V-shaped sig, it's not necessarily something bad, but something you definitely want to know. Also it's nice that he uses Head-Fi-approved terminology.
