Updated the original post with further impressions about the two Pure models.

Those are some mighty convincing impressions you've got there. I'd order a pair before a swarm of head-fiers does but i'm broke right now.

How would you class these 'phones performance for energetic genres like metal, rock and electronica? Is the sound very much in-head?

Great, thanks! Based on your impressions about the Pure model, and assuming CE uses the same dynamic driver on their Hybrid models, we can expect some serious bass perfomance on those too, right?

I would not dare forget. Just waiting for dad to get home to do it. I don't trust my mates with the kit aha, or even a camera for that matter :P

Thanks! I'm very curious about that process... But, didn't you also go to an audiologist to make your ear molds recently?

Yeh, pics were a few days ago. I am getting some other customs done etc and i am also sending a set of DIY and audiologist impressions to CE to make sure of good quality!

What they will use of the two though i do not know.

Does anyone know whether the models that include dynamic drivers are vented or sealed?

The comment about 'recessed' mids is a little disappointing for me as I'm looking to replace my TF10's for just that reason.

I was going to get the TF's reshelled but I find them somewhat strident in the upper regions on quite a lot of tracks.

I also find that if I turn the volume up to the point where I really enjoy the bass, the highs are quite harsh.

I don't think I'm a fan of the v-shaped sound sig' frown.gif

I'm very keen to hear what Project86 and Swimsonny have to say about the HY3/Flex hybrid.

I have everything crossed for boosted bass and mids!

Taken from the original post :--

" Yes, you read that right. Cosmic Ears found a way to use a dynamic driver in a non-vented acrylic shell, and are using that as their base model."

Hope that helps.

Cheers

Great! That way you can easily compare the results of both methods!

Sonny, those look good to me (and my amateur eyes). Your canals have an interesting curve past the 2nd bend.

All models are sealed, including the dynamic version.

Mids are tricky - they don't seem very recessed with some music, especially instrumental stuff. But vocals do bring out the somewhat "distant" sound.

I don't think these sound as good as the TF10 though - we have to keep in mind that the TF10 is a triple driver "flagship" model, and it originally sold for hundreds more. Just because it is getting old and was/is available for $100, doesn't mean we should forget where it came from.

Then again, if we talk about comfort, the Pure is about 19 steps ahead of the TF10. So it's a trade-off.

Yeh Phill approved them and said from pictures they look better than my audiologist ones. Hes actually gonna measure the two up when he gets them. The video is uploading now and it is the most unnatractive video of me ever a haha. Had a bit of a 'heavy night' so am in a mess. BUT you guys will get the video.

Yes, you can easily tell when a CIEM is not sealed as it will have a vent like this following one (dunno what it is at the moment):

I hope the are not too distant with my HY3s! I am super super excited!
