Hey Guys,
I have just started a review of the MA2, my twin micro and here is the rig i have mainly been using. I feel it oozes the very most out of the MA2. It starts with the nexus 7 but that is simply a UI to use. We then through bluetooth go to my MyST PortaDAC 1866 which is a amazing sounding DAC/amp and then to the MA2s. This really does sound amazing and the DAC helps in a lot of this!
I've never seen digital audio over bluetooth, it sure is cool.
Do the twin micro benefit from that serious of an amp/DAC?
EDIT: from the "Pictures of your portable rig" thread some guy said it's not digital audio, but most commonly a lossy SBC codec (specific to bluetooth). Guess lossless is just too high quality for bluetooth. (here's something old about some propietary codec: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2164573,00.asp)

Phil has been kindly experimenting with a faceplate approach that I suggested to him ( mostly to humour me I think, he really is a sound guy to deal with ) based upon some jewellery pieces I made aeon's ago when I studied art.
It's a bit embarrassing really, I seem to remember my pieces taking loads of attempts to reach this level of clarity, and he gets it straight off.
I don't know if he'll incorporate any of this into the monitors he's going to make me (once he gets cable supply sorted), I think he was just tickled by some pic's of insects trapped in Amber that I sent him.
In other news my single dynamic driver Pure really is great.
The comfort is the big thing for me, I'd never really thought earbuds were particularly uncomfortable (except maybe for the TF10s and Super-Fi 5s that I have), but I always get itching in my ear canal after about a half hours listening.
Sound is also very satisfying :-) plenty of subbass/bass presence, easy, warm relaxed sound which does well with bassy EDM and makes a fair stab at all genre's really.
You couldn't describe them as analytical or 'sparkly', but that suits me fine in the context ( mobile use ).
I can't wait for the HY5 to become available.
Only just seen this post and I love the leaf impression faceplates. Very nice and extremely unusual.
Also glad to hear that you managed to get a good fit with your Pure's and are enjoying the sound, and I know that Phil takes pride in Cosmic Ears work and he will be very pleased too.
On the fit front, did Davidcotton get sorted out in the end? wasn't he having a fit problem?

Hi
Situation is "ongoing" not helped by the christmas break tbh. Can't really go into too much detail right now as my situation seems to be unusual. I willingly put it on hold over christmas as a)Phil was away the last week and he wants to see to the situation personally but that unfortunately leads to b)that as they are so busy from christmas they are maxed out right now so it's finding a gap where he can sit down and take a fresh look at it. I'm convinced it's a matter of a)length (the first set was too long, whilst the second was too short so it's going to be somewhere in between) and b) thickness.
I'm sure we will get there in the end but it's a little frustrating to go a couple of weeks without updates wondering what (if anything)is going on! I do appreciate the effort and time Phil's putting into my somewhat unique situation. Two other companies (Fisher and Minerva)both tried and failed.
Mind you with the state of the airports in the uk right now I'm not sure much of anything is getting in or out anyway!
Long story short "not yet work in progress!"
Cheers

It is cool and even more so, sounds great!
The MA2 is a great IEM from any source but the difference is easily noticeable with and without this on the iPhone 4.
I really do not care what the huy says. This does lossless audio just fine in digital format and i could not tell at all this was bluetooth!
Is the Pure model, with the single dynamic driver going to be discontinued?

I imagine the site is due to be updated. If you read the 2013 newsletter there's no mention of it. You could try emailing them to clarify the situation perhaps if you are that interested.

Those new cables look great. I think I might want to buy a removable pin version...

yes they have said they will sell them on there own in 4 designs:
they have planet names:
one is just standard with memory wire, one is without memory wire and then memory wire + remote and no memory wire + remote
I hope so, as I think it has the potential to look better than standard square plugs, and cable swappers will still be able to order flush sockets.
I'm not a great believer in exotic cables, on the one occasion that I really put some proper effort into blind A/B-ing proper expensive speaker cables (Tellurium Q black) versus cheaper cables (Reson) I couldn't reliably choose the T-Q, although the results were biased in that direction.
I did do better when choosing between 'good' vs 'economy' interconnects, and bought some decent Van Den Hul as a result though, so I'm not a total sceptic.
It's nice to have decent cables supplied with your monitor though, and the choice offered here is better than any other I've seen too.
If the 'other line' you mention in your review (nice, by the way Swim, thanks for that) is what Phil has mentioned to me as a possibility, it'll be a truly unique offering, and very exciting.
The HY5 can't come soon enough for me!, I also can't wait to hear some impressions of the BA4, does any Head-Fiers plan to get them?

Not saying it will not sound good or anything like that just if you look at cable reviews, usability and build are the most important factors and you don't have to be a cable believer to benefit from these difference.

I will be getting a BA4. Nothing at all wrong with my HY3, I am getting a BA4 precisely because I love the HY3 so much, and want to try one of Cosmic Ears full BA setups
Current estimates from CE seem to be that the full range will be available for general order from around the tail end of March, when the new cables are in full supply.
