No, not like that. Take a look at this video, you should get what I meant. I'm at a lost of words to explain this for some reason.

Well, yes. Just as the BA2 is "only" two BA drivers (one twin BA driver). With the HY2, you switch one of the BA drivers for a dynamic driver.

I'd agree. The helix is poorly moulded and I an not sure about the anti-tragus from those shots either.

Benezer - Did you give the sheet of paper to the audiologist from Cosmic Ears, that says exactly how the moulding should be made ?

Is the Pure model being discontinued?

I'm glad that they figured out the cable supply problem! When Phil gets the ball rolling again, it looks like I may have to get myself a pair!

Aren't you temped to try Cosmic's DIY kit?, I went diy and Phil managed to get an excellent fit from my slightly dodgy efforts.

I know others use diy kits regularly, project 86 being one example who seems very happy with the method.

When it's time to order BA4, I'm going to try the DIY kit. A lot of people are against the idea of doing it yourself though and suggest an audiologist but I must say most audiologist do a ****ty job, the audiologist I went to did a ****ty job but only charged $50 at the time but now I found out their rate is $80 an ear after 5 months. That's crazy, screw paying $160 for crappy impressions. I guess at the end of the day it comes down to how much you trust yourself in performing it on your own since it is pretty dangerous of you do mess up. Only problem I see is that I don't actually know where my second bend is, I just know that I go pretty deep into the canal without feeling any pain. Guess I'm good enough to try it on myself.

What my audiologist told me is that when it starts to hurt you're at te right spot. It should be enough pain to the point it becomes uncomfortable and make you want to move away and not just sligtly sensitive. I guess you just have to go as far as you dare without alot of pain.

Phil has been kindly experimenting with a faceplate approach that I suggested to him ( mostly to humour me I think, he really is a sound guy to deal with ) based upon some jewellery pieces I made aeon's ago when I studied art.

I should stress that these are just Phil's first off the cuff experimental attempt at this technique!

One day I made the suggestion, the next day he'd banged these out!

They're not intended for actual use.

It's a bit embarrassing really, I seem to remember my pieces taking loads of attempts to reach this level of clarity, and he gets it straight off.

He is also working on an amber colour as a special request too, although I haven't seen that yet.

I don't know if he'll incorporate any of this into the monitors he's going to make me (once he gets cable supply sorted), I think he was just tickled by some pic's of insects trapped in Amber that I sent him.

In other news my single dynamic driver Pure really is great.

The comfort is the big thing for me, I'd never really thought earbuds were particularly uncomfortable (except maybe for the TF10s and Super-Fi 5s that I have), but I always get itching in my ear canal after about a half hours listening.

I don't know if this is due to some sensitivity to the latex or whatever the tips are made from, or just from the constant gentle pressure of the tips but it's bloody annoying during longer listening sessions like train journeys etc.

Thankfully the Pures have eliminated that completely, and comfort is just great.

I can now listen for at least 3 hours straight without any discomfort!

The only reason I haven't gone longer is that I never get that long for uninterrupted listening!

Sound is also very satisfying :-)   plenty of subbass/bass presence, easy, warm relaxed sound which does well with bassy EDM and makes a fair stab at all genre's really.

You couldn't describe them as analytical or 'sparkly', but that suits me fine in the context ( mobile use ).

I can't wait for the HY5 to become available.

^Damn, that looks good. But I'm guessing I'll have a carbon fiber faceplate since I'm 98% convinced on getting BA4. If not, I would hope Phil could do simple artwork like what I already have on my CIEMs since I love it so much.

I feel I should say that I never felt ANY real pain when I did my own impressions, and I got well past the second bend.

Phil was quite happy with the canals of my impressions, but I'd used another companies kit which had less impression material and this meant the outer parts of the ear weren't fully captured (he still managed a good fit despite this though).

There was certainly strange sensations both when I inserted the dam, and when I injected the silicone (well when my girlfriend injected the silicone), but absolutely no pain.

The sensations were:

An intense tickling when the dam went in.

And a feeling of pressure when the silicone went in which made my ear feel very 'full' but not actually 'under pressure'.

I am in serious need of the BA4 to come out, my tf10 customs are so weird. At first I thought it was a cable problem so I swapped the cable and the right sound still sounds like it lacks bass or any depth of sound (Just sounds like a muffled song). If I raise the volume to max and bring it down a few times, I'll hear a foil sound and then everything sounds fine again. Weird but glad that they still work. The funny thing is I had this issue with a used pair of tf10 I was going to reshell and then had to purchase a brand new one to reshell. Any ideas what the problem could be? I'm just curious, not really thinking of fixing it as it seems like my trick makes it work.

BA's can be quite sensitive to moisture. Might be worth leaving them somewhere warm and dry for a day or two?

That was my first guess but then I store my monitors in my ottorbox with moisture collecting pod every night, do you think it would be a bad  idea to soak the problem monitor inside isopropyl? Really odd.. Perhaps something with the filter? The bores are definitely clean so it can't be wax build up.

I have just started a review of the MA2, my twin micro and here is the rig i have mainly been using. I feel it oozes the very most out of the MA2. It starts with the nexus 7 but that is simply a UI to use. We then through bluetooth go to my MyST PortaDAC 1866 which is a amazing sounding DAC/amp and then to the MA2s. This really does sound amazing and the DAC helps in a lot of this!
