But both can be used on android phone? Works?

Bogi - How did you externally powered UD110v2 using an external power source. Please provide photos and details?

No general answer for every Android device. It has to support USB Audio Class 1 Device or a special application is needed. See this thread for more details: http://www.head-fi.org/t/595071/android-phones-and-usb-dacs

You need an Y type USB cable. The joined end is leading to a device (UD110v2 in this case). One branch is leading to a computer USB port and the 2nd to an external power supply (prefferably battery or linear +5V power supply). The cables of this type are for example:

http://www.musicdirect.com/p-161058-ifi-gemini-usb-cable.aspx

http://forzaaudioworks.com/en/product.php?id_product=46

but you would need USB type A female connector for UD100/110/120.

I made mine myself. The data branch does not contain the +5V wire (it contains DATA+, DATA-  and ground) and the power branch contains only +5V wire and ground.

You can DIY clean 5V power injection ... you'll need some simple electronics tools, and of course, an outboard clean (linear) PS...basically, as noted in this blog, you...

"...need to remove the dirty '5vdc feed' produced by your PC (on pins 1 & 4 of the type A USB end) and replace it with a more linear 5vdc supply from the source of your choosing.."

Or, you can try cleaning the power in-line by splicing in a filter network...sort of as follows:

You can search for more compact in-line solutions ... i.e., ones that can easily be fit inside heat-shrink ... such as our distended friend here from Malaysia (made by ClieOS, of course ;) ... methinks too much Teh tarik and Nasi lemak at the last Petronas luncheon ....

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nope, you can use it by smartphone only. They are explaining how they are preferring it. It seems like the UD110v2 benefits form an external power source.

It works on some android devices, so it would probably be better to ask Stoner acoustic if it works with your smartphone.

Thread Starter

Every Android smartphone is different when it comes to USB DAC detection (and some even different firmware of the same Android smartphone). Some works and some don't, I don't think Stoner Acoustic will have the means to test them all. That's why it is good to get the USB Audio Player Pro (UAPP) from Play store as it increases the chance that your smartphone will work with an USB DAC.

Maybe i will try the less expensive one first, like the sabre android smily_headphones1.gif
