Enjoying this, I've not heard any Biber before. (That dissonance - crazy for the 17 century!)
Biber was one of the premier violinists of his day and is probably best known for his writing for that instrument(his "mystery sonatas" in particular).
His wonderful writing certainly wasn't restricted to the violin however. His music is often inventive and creative and quite powerful at times IMO.
Every time I watch videos of great performances, I'm reminded how much more engaging and 'alive' the music becomes. I listen to most of my music, mainly because I'm working/studying at the same time. Excellent recordings are wonderful, but it's so easy to be lulled into thinking that is all (personally speaking here).
^^ Those Winterreise performances smashed that notion into smithereens. WOW 1:30am in the morning here, and I'm bolt upright, mesmerised.
Thanks guys. I had a recommendation, but nah gonna leave that for next time.
Also, I think I properly like Schubert now.
