Thinking of getting a half decent pair for while I'm on the move...

Hey,

As above, I'm considering getting a pair of headphone, earphones or IEMs to use with my phone while on the move since I just picked up an E7 (which I'll be using with an E9 hopefully as my home amp/dac combo) but obviously I can use the E7 while on the move.

 

I was wondering what people would recommend, for walking about etc

And what kind of money would I have to spend to get something worth spending some money on?

Why settle for half?

Get yerself a decent set of Etymotic MC3s, then throw the NRB Mod at them and enjoy your great IEMs.

After a quick google they don't seem that highly rated?

 

And what do you mean about settling for half?

Oh, haha :P

 

Are the MC3s better than the MC5s?

£80 was more than I was ideally looking to spend really, since I don't do THAT much listening while on the move, just thought it might be nice to get something a little better than the free htc ones I'm using at the moment.

My choice would be the MC5s.

Any other suggestions I should keep my eyes out for? (2nd hand etc)

The money saved on a second hand set would not give you the two year Etymotic Warranty... Which is priceless.

So the chance of them breaking within 2 years is quite high? :/

I would not say it is high or not high. But why give up that little extra layer of protection.

Seen a couple of sets in the for sale forums, such as the Rock IT R-50, Vsonic GR07, Yuin PK1 earbuds....
All which would be affordable at 2nd hand prices, but would you still recommend the mc5 over them?

Your choice now just became a little more dificult.

My first set of Used Etys was purchased from eBay.

Great as second hand was, I could not be sure that nothing was wrong with them. So I bought a Brand New pair.

I could go on rambling forever. So I will close and say that it sounds as though you have some research to do.
