Hi guys,
I haven't read the entire 90 pages in this thread so apologies if this question has been asked and answered already. I have the F805 (yeah don't laugh at me cos I'm in the UK) and upon using it the first time I did the system update which changed the EQ for the CLear Bass from 3 levels to 10. However my real question is this, why are the frequency ranges from 400Hz - 16KHz when all the other player apps seem capable of presenting a range from 31Hz - 16KHz.
Surely Sony could have added some additional ranges below the 400H mark as this is where the sub bass frequencies are so why are they omitted on the default player?
The player can of course handle those frequencies I'm sure (can someone say otherwise) otherwise why would PowerAmp have them (31, 62, 125, 250, then 500). This is my only real gripe with the built in EQ for the F, but apart from that the mids and the treble are bright clear and full (non scientific of course, just sound good in my ears with EX700s).
Regards

No problem asking that question! Actually I don't think that's been discussed here at all, and like you I've always wondered that very thing. I would love to have bands to adjust down to the 30hz area, like so many of the other manufacturers do. All I can say is, 'It's Sony, who knows what goes through their heads'. You can download 3rd party apps which have full range of adjustability though. However the current stock Sony music player sounds really top notch compared to any of the 3rd party ones. The Clear Bass does seem to affect the low bass range though. I would guess that bass down to the 30-40 hz range is being affected by it.

You know you're absolutely correct about the Clear Bass and sub frequencies, but just now I switched everything off, switched on Dynamic Normaliser and Clear Stereo and yeah the sub bass frequencies really come through significantly with what I'm listening to right now (Richard Elliot - sax player with some soulful vocalists).
What they need is a 'Direct' button that acts similar to full size amplifiers do and removes any (most) electronic fidgetry from the path to give a pure signal as you can get (well, that means everything would have to be FLAC, and I'm struggling already on 16GB).
Nice :-) Japan only limited colour no doubt!!
I love my Walkman F807, but the battery life is really terrible compared to my X1060 walkman. Is there a way to increase the battery life (like lowering power consumption, etc.)?

The only things I know of that help are to turn off wifi, turn on airplane mode, and lower the screen brightness a bunch. Also, stay on top of closing down any unnecessary apps running in the background. These all help, but it definitely doesn't have the greatest battery life in the world.
Only the Sony Audio & Video Player and the Google one.
