I have always been around. Didn't wanna hang around the Sony Z thread anymore because of the Sony fanboys there.

Now, Mickey or no Mickey?

Sony fanboys are also very strong here, but we also welcome you to participate.  L3000.gif  At the end of the day, it is just an audio.

Agreed.... just an audio device. Actually, I welcome any *helpful* critical posts regarding the F player. It definitely has some shortcomings, and is not a perfect device. I would like it if the thread avoids overt fanboism, but also blatant trolling.... Healthy discussion!

Ok, I have some complaints, I'm missing the physical buttons for start/stop and next/previous of the J3, this is annoying when you are playing in shuffle.

The battery life can be also better, but I don't have the latest firmware, some one can give a feedback about improvements in this area ?

Also no protection for the USB connector when you don't use the original IEM and it get a lot off dust when is in my pocket. **

Equaliser with the stock player is very limited in resolution and only 5 channels and I prefer to use Clear bass. I can install another player but this is not normal. Some one have tried/found the Cowon Jeat Audio app with the BBE effects for Android ?

The player won't recognize a simple cover.jpg file and I have to tag all my collection.

That all for me wink.gif

Edit : The output impedance is high with 16 ohms and is not easy to find this value, only in Japanese sites and strangely mentioned not sure at all if is a correct value.

** You can just remove the protection for the USB connector on the original IEM and use it with another IEM, thanks to userC64x for the hint,

1. If you are using the stock player, the "W" button + swipe gestures might be a workable solution for blind controls in a pocket. Or you can try an app called Tactile player, which also works with other music apps. Tacticle player basically makes the volume buttons next/previous.

2. I find the battery life pretty good, if you are expecting J3 amounts of battery life you will be disappointed no matter what, unless you are using a J3.

3. Clean your pocket and get canned air to blow the dust out of the socket.

4. Installing another music player is very normal. Many others do this. Plus, the stock equalizer is pretty good despite only 5 bars.

5. I dunno about the album art issue.

Good luck bru!

I love this player tongue_smile.gif But is not perfect, with the J3 I can go to the next song just pushing a button in my pocket, when you are in a busy transport is a nice feature, the dust is from the tissue, my pockets are clean ! Installing another player in a 500$ DAP is very normal ?

Edit 1 : I know have workaround or solutions, for example I use the player itself to tag my albums, that just for debating wink.gif

Edit 2 : The J3 without BBE effect is just lifeless, the F is just much more better in sound capability and better to don't talk about the UI of the T51 biggrin.gif

Ya I know, trust me I have the same gripes about the player: mainly lack of physical buttons and even lack of expandable memory. I was just posting how I have dealt with the issues in case you were really struggling. I also love my F806 - enough so that I am living with its imperfections because at the moment (maybe until Fiio X3?), there is no other player that suits my needs/desires.

This player have many good thinks, at the moment is my best DAP, the USB speed is so fast and the interface also, for me these are minor inconvenient, but people have to know that at the moment we have no perfect player in the market, the battery is pretty good for an Android device, the boot time is very fast also, the F have many good points and the sound is very good also.

As you say maybe the X3 can be the next dreaming DAP, hope so, but at the moment this player suits also my needs beerchug.gif

Have you tried re-tagging your songs with "Audioshell" tag editor?  I don't have a problem at all with album art display on my F.

No problem.  I once ripped everything in wav and have to manually tagged everything.  I got really tired of it so I spent a month re-ripping all of my CDs in FLACs format.  Thankfully I did that and no longer have problem with metadata & album arts displayed on all of my audio devices.

hi. i looked at the test graphs, but i want to be sure. is there any audible treble roll-of on sony f, since i hear a somewhat apparent roll-of with my a845 (with grado hf-1, sennheiser px200 and audio technica es55) and i dislike it. Thanks.

I am another of those who purchased one of these from here via Alex (I do thank you for the quick service). Now that this info has come to peoples attention regarding the serial number and update issues, I probably would have held back buying one if I knew so before hand. I assumed they were full retail units from the factory, minus the box. I assumed this as this is whats usually happened when I have bought 'direct from factory' in the past.

Did the recent software update include a new android version? Or was it just performance related? What happens if Sony gives us Jelly Bean? I hope I dont miss out, hopefully XDA can sort something out.

I havent been on here in a while since I got the unit, have had some family health issues that have kept me away. And Ive not really used the player either.

It seems to work ok, build seems good, apart from front bottom, where the housing slightly sinks below the border of the player. Not sure if this is the same in retail boxed models, or if its all 'flush'.

Anyway, the earphone tips that come with this player, are they the Sony Hybrid tips? If so, might have to get them installed on my um3x.
