Long USB cable recommendation for Clip+

I posted about this yesterday in the Computer Audio section, but didn't get a response. Maybe someone here will know.

I need a 4 to 6ft USB cable that will allow the Clip+ to both charge and data sync with my PC. My current 4 ft cable only allows the Clip+ (and my Cowon D2) to charge, but no data connection. I have to use the short cable to get connection for both at the same time.

Does such a thing exist? Or is this a limitation of these specific DAPs and/or USB in general? I'm worried that such is the case, which is why I haven't just ordered another brand.

I'm wondering if your 4ft is missing the data wiring and meant for charging specifically. I have something like a 20' A to Mini B that works for data, but the cable is cheap enough it will not power a lot of hub powered things unless they need next to none.

If you get a decent (thicker cable with wires that don't snap at the slightest bend) cable, you should be fine with something like a 6' cable.

My USB wasn't the cheapest when I got it, but it is about five years old. It has the RFI suppression barrel near the end and the cable is fairly thick.

I hate to just order a different one unless I can confirm that the longer cables do work in this circumstance.

Not sure honestly. I have some 6' cables that work fine for data and power so it should work just fine. Do you have anything else you could try for a data connection to see if the cable does work for data?

My charging cables for my PS3 are some of my better ones, and they've been used quite frequently for years now and still work without issue, so provided they haven't been battered, their age shouldn't be an issue.

It could be an issue with the clip if the cable does work on other things, but I don't know how that could be the case if it works on another cable.

OK. Maybe I should order a different one and try it. They aren't that expensive, and neither the Cowon D2 nor the Clip+ will do data sync with that cable. But they do work with shorter ones that I have.
