Depending on what that "up to" means, I now will need to consider the 4.A's as one of my alternatives to the 4.Ai's.

where are you seeing up to?
i actually emailed heir and was told of the 4a sale. specifically, that it would go for $420.

regardless though, i dont want the 4a. will cause problems if i want to sell it later on.

What "up to" are you refering to? That Black Friday from Heir Audio is 40% off the 4.A price ($699) during that time frame (chinese time zone), making it's final promo price $419.4 (plus shipping and optionals). Looking at that banner above, it can't be more clear than that...

yeah - sorry - i'm not sure where i thought i saw the "up to 40% off".. but i see it clearly now it is 40% off so yes, should be $420.  i'll have to work out the time zone order thing.

looks like it's now similar in price to the original "introductory" pricing.

Is there anything special that one needs to do to take advantage of this?  Or just go on the Heir Audio website and submit the order in the time-frame?  (I believe it starts in New York (ET) at noon Thursday, Thanksgiving day.)

Yep, during that timeframe, the price of the 4.A should be with 40% off (if you take a look at their webstore, you can find the 8.A at a discount price too)! And since it's a 24 hour deal, it should be hard to miss...
