Closed Headphone Recommendation

Thread Starter

Budget: Under $150

I want something that leaks the least possible amount of sound because I'm mostly going to use these headphones in library environments. Sound isolation would also be nice. I'm only using a laptop (no amplifier, external sound card, etc) or iPhone to drive these, so I need something with low impedence. I listen to pretty much all genres of music, so that's a non-issue. I don't care too much about bass; I would actually prefer something with less bass because it ruins any form of academic concentration for me. :/

If anyone has any viable recommendations, please post them below. =) I live in New York if that matters for tax or shipping etc...

Heya,

Brainwavz HM5. Flat/neutral headphone, great big sound stage for a closed phone, very comfortable, great isolation. And within your budget.

Very best,

Off the Macbook, the HM5 sounds clear enough vocalwise ...when diana krall is singing.

But with a dac like the centrance dacportLX thrown in, the soundstage opens up,

the accompanying instrumentation behind her comes thru clearer..like spring air.

That would bust your budget ...:P     maybe a Fiio E7 dac...?

But if u just wanna concentrate on your books then just grab the HM5 as a very musical earwarmer.
