I prefer a thinner, more flexible cable when I'm on the go, and I'd prefer a cable this thin and flexible for, say, the Amperior (which has a pretty thick cable).

And the cable is detachable. I uploaded a photo I just took to the gallery to show the cable detached. (Sorry I didn't include a cable-detached photo in the set in the first place.) When the cable is inserted, it definitely does not look like it would detach because the plug seats quite deep in the cup, leaving just enough of the plug body sticking out to look more like a typical strain relief on a captive cable. Here's the photo:

By the way, here's a link to the Sennheiser MOMENTUM unboxing photos I posted.

I think I'll be posting first impressions of this headphone today or tomorrow, but I really like it. It's not what I'd call a reference headphone, per se, but it's very well executed for what it is (in my opinion).

Wow...they look really nice, but the price might not be for me.

Very retro-looking.

That is a sexy-looking headphone that seems very well-made. From those pics I get the impression that the Momentum is designed to be a classy lifestyle accessory, like stylish leather driving gloves. How does the leather smell?

Ohh - I'll be looking forward to some comparisons between these and the M-100's from V-MODA. No doubt they will most likely be different beasts, but I look forward to seeing how good these are, as I do like the styling.

Very, very retro-looking.  Maybe a little too much.  I won't care about that if I end up loving the sound.

Its size looks similar to HD4x8/4x9.  It looks like the detachable cable uses a 2.5mm TRS on the headphone side.

Is this handmade in Germany? biggrin.gif

Waiting for first impression + review. Build quality looks spectacular as always, and I won't look like a nerd when wearing this outside like the HD25

Excellent innovation with the multi-angle plug! They look real classy overall - they are going to make some people happy with it for sure.

Anyone know what headphone stand Jude is using in his gallery? That is pretty nice too.

Does it fit around the ears like the Ultrasone HiFi-780 or on the ears like the DT1350?

If these are around the ears, with great bass, mids and decent soundstage then these will be my next set of gaming cans.

DT1350 is untouchable as a portable. wink_face.gif

This is exciting... (waiting for Jude's impressions)

Edit: It would be helpful if you can compare them to the DT1350s. Thanks.

Looks like an OEM version of the Panasonic RP-HTX7 variants with "better" aesthetics and an additional 300usd price tag :P

Thank you, thank you thank you. Both Jude and Sennheiser! :)

The cable can be whatever it is, as long as it is detachable in mobile cans. Brilliant. Just went to the top of the list for me. Just need a head-to-head on SQ with Amperior on these and am ready to go.

It will be interesting to see what this translates to in the UK. This is the first set of cans I've been excited about for a while.
