I want them hard wired
LOL. Still trying! It's tough out there.
You are right about that. Robert will only do Zeus.
I've been running my HE-500's off a little Pro-Ject Head Box S amp from an Audiolab 8200CD player but have an Audio-GD NFB-6 on the way for listening in balanced mode (and with gobs of power). Anyone familiar with that combination?
So Hifiman HE500 is better with the same Amplifier then ATH-W3000ANV, HD700-800 and LCD2?
Aren't the HE500 heaviest of them all?
My grandma used to say, if its heavy then its quality
Oops looks like the admins missed a thread
Can't have people think HD650 or HE500 are summit-fi compatible headphones!
Why not? Are you ironic? Well amped HE-500 and HD650 are - at least for me - right up there with LCD-3 and Stax 007. Not at ultimate detail - but at listening quality/enjoyment - for sure. HE-500 + Leben CS300XS is just jummy. HD650 on WA22 just makes drums so totally right.
Not many headphones perform better than the HD 650's. . . and the HE-500's have the distortion of a low-fi headphone.
Not to my ears thay haven't - What's your source?

Oh you didn't know, Head-fi admins recently imposed a new rule here at summit-fi that deemed headphones like HE500, LCD2 not summit-fi. The big HE500 and LCD2 general threads are therefore moved away to full-sized headphones forum.
Now I don't know about you but if HE500 and LCD2 are not summit-fi, then HD650 definitely doesn't qualify.
If you don't agree then go argue with Currawong the admin here.
^ If this is true then it is very very sad.
Returning my HD 650 back to amazon. This is after listening to HE-500 and the bass response. The soundstage is wide and has depth to it which the HD650 lacks. But I have to give 1 point to the HD650 they are very good with instrument separation. But then I am still in the burn in period for the HE-500. I recently watched a video on HE-500 where Tyll seemed to be very happy with the bass response and SQ. I wonder why he did not put HE-500 on the Hall of Fame. To me HE-500 the most important thing is that instruments sound as they should in real life. I love the HD650 it really introduced me to High SQ but HE 500 took it to another level. And by the way I had the HD700 for two days before I returned it. All I could hear on the HD700 was treble...everything else just did not matter and that costs in UK for £600.
No I mean they literally have twice the distortion.
