Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Impressions Thread - Page 181

$80 for the UE6000 is great but you're kind of in the wrong thread. I ended up keeping my UE6000 instead of selling and I'm very satisfied with the sound. Still I kind of prefer the detailing and isolation of mid tier iems though. But if I were to throw in $500+ on headphones I'd probably prefer them. Anyway. The lower treble on the UE6000 can be hot at times but I don't really feel it's an issue. The bass extends decently. It feels realistic and is decent in speed. It's not really boomy or bloated. Just kind of enhanced. Let this be the last post about the UE6000. If you have any other questions you're free to pm me smily_headphones1.gif but I don't own any other headphones ^^

If the pin holes have gotten blocked with mine or the cross overs have burned in..don't really believe in the BA'S. Burn in but believe the cross over does. ..that's another argument. .but these are really starting to sound soooo good. .they did sound great out of the box but now they sound closer to neautrel now then they did out of the box resulting in that veil clearing up more and giving more detail. The mids. Don't sound behind the bass and and highs anymore. Not that they were that recessed that much from the start. But the vocals now sound more upfront. .I'm really likening the way they sound now. .and at first I thought the cables looked and felt kinda cheap. But now think that they are made pretty well. They are very comfy compaired to some other isms I have like the shures. .I also like the memory cable part. Once the earphones are in your ears they stay put and don't need the cable around the back of your ears really tight making them so comfy. ..just my two cents lol great sounding phone. ..and other then the sound cutting out on the left side from day one..I unplugged them and spun them around a few times and now I do not have that issue :-)

Don't underestimate brain burn-in. Getting used to the sound is probably the most key factor there. You can always check if the pinholes have been blocked just to know. I didn't hear any significant change to the sound because I blocked my pinholes voluntarily quite early. Tip rolling also pays off sometimes.

your rite I am getting use to the sound. But I can tell it has changed. I let them fill in by them selfs so it took a while. But it's there. I actually kinda liked them to before. They just seem more refined or something. They sounded more ..fun I think is the word I'm looking for. LOL but I like more of a neutrrl sounding headphone more. They sounded more neutral ish before now they are closer to neutrel I think. They still have some color ..not to many that are tottlay neutrel I think. Maybe something like the re400 maybe ? I'm just really liking how they sound rite now. A very good headphone. ..I hate to say it LOL but I'm liking these more then the w4r's I had. ..LOL

My experience with the UE 900 is mostly positive and I have noticed they sound a bit  warmer now after the break-in period. I am suspecting the sound will continue to be cutting in and out moving forward which is a concern. I had earphones and headphones before that were really engaging and I was looking forward to put them on, this isn't the case with the UE 900 but I guess it's more of a personal preference.

Can't wait! Ordered my ue900 yesterday, should be here next week.

Just been advised by Logitech uk that UE900s are being phased out and that I will not now receive a second warranty replacement but they are going to refund my money as they were bought direct from them. Now have to wait for UPS to pick up faulty set before refund is made. This might be of interest to any prospective buyers.

Thanks for the info. I have been saying this all along that they are going to be phased out but members here also reported that they heard from Mr. Diaz from Logitech that they are not discontinued. Regardless, the writing is on the wall. Not available is EU since October, not offered by Amazon in US and Logitech Customer Service Reps said they are discontinued...

I am not sure what's going on but it seems like the UE 900 are gonna be gone soon. My UE 900 has some left channel issues. I am not sure how Logitech gonna handle my claim.

Just sent in my second pair of UE900s as these were also cutting out.  I haven't followed this thread for a long time, but has the cutting out issue ever been solved?

I received my second pair back in October and they have always cut out as well, but I just learned to deal with it.  However, one of the ear cups broke when I tried to disconnect the ear cup so back they go...

Hey guys. Got my ue900s in today, and these babies r amazing! The sound is so much fuller than the etymotic hf2s while still maintaining a nuetral sound signature. Source: nexus 5 w/ shuttle+ player. Batch# 1235. I hope I got lucky on the QC issues. 1 thing I don't like is the memory wire, other then that, these r ****!

glad you like them..I have been kinda lucky too. And they do sound amazing.. When I first got them the sound would cut in and out on the left side..and it's just not these that had did that..ie.shures did that too.. So all I did was take the cable on and off a few times and rotated them a few times and the issue was fixed..they have not cut out at all for like a month or so.
I've had no quality issues with mine at all.. I've seen pics of the housing falling apart on here and it's like.. What are you doing to them to make them do that..I haven't been the most careful with mine and I've had non of those problems.. Or the silver part on the housing chipping and stuff..non..I think.. Well mine anyway.. Have been very well made.. So far..as for the memory cable part..at first I didn't like it but then realized that it's great..alot more comfy that way then say my w4r,s where it's like gripping my ears and uncomfortable after some time.. To me once they are in my ears they don't need to be that tight around my ears...I think they are great. Put it this way..I traded my w4r for these and didn't look back.. Of course this is all my own opinion.. Happy listening everyone..

As UE900s are being phased out as I said previously I am now wondering what to buy as a replacement.Given my recent IEMs experience I am thinking about over ears ,possibly  Bowers and Wilkins P7,any thoughts?

UE6000 are a steal at <100$ IMO. I do hear some similarities between UE6000 passive and UE900 stock.

I have to agree, it is a steal for under $100, I guess due to being discontinued as well.  Logitech US website doesn't even list UE4000/6000/9000 anymore, not even UE600.  Only UE900 are listed in there, but as we all know those are being phased out too.

Regarding B&W P7, it's not a replacement for UE900.  If anything, I would consider P7 to be an enhanced version of M-100 with better mids and treble.  It's not an audiophile accurate headphones (you car read Tyll's review on IF), but their sound and look soooo good!  After more hours I put on these, the mids improved (not as recessed anymore), and treble shines.  At the same time, bass is still very strong.  Perhaps you might want to look into Senns over-ear Momentum?  I tested those a few months ago and really liked their sound signature.  I just wish their earpads had a bigger opening, it was smaller than average over-ear design.

Also, if you have extra cash, imho W40 has an edge over UE900 (better bass quantity, warmer sound, less ear fatigue over extended listening).
