Ultimate Ears UE 900 Discussion and Appreciation Thread - Page 56

Here's an interesting question: has anyone who owns UERM heard these UE900 and compared them head to head?

(Trying to acquire another review decoder ring - for CIEMs this time.)

Never mind, the reviewer had. D'oh!

So it seems that UE900 might have a very right signature. (perhaps with a tiny bit highest end rolloff, but everything has this.)

I'll try to snatch the listen with it. Also will try to force a comparison vs Jays q-Jays and Phonak PFE 122...

If I can read correctly, these should be strictly superior with very similar signature.

Also the VSonic GR08 when it finally comes out in a month or two... I'm waiting for shootouts between all 3.  I'm definitely interested in the $400-500 IEM category, but there's too much interesting stuff coming out all at once.

At this point I'd probably snag a 4.ai used because I'm a bit concerned I wouldn't like it (although I was similarly concerned about the GR07 and ended up loving them).

It's true...it is a very competitive IEM price-range and a bad fit is surely a deal breaker.  Shame on UE....again!

No memory wire, just flexible plastic that has shape retention.

I had much easier time getting a proper fit with the UE900 than with the TF10. For me, it's an ergonomic improvement over the TF10.

If you look closely inside it, there is a piece of metal that is the memory wire (like standard cables).  The blue cable has a blue one, the black has a black on (from memory, don't have the black cable on me right now :p).  But I agree with everything else you said, the proper fit is very easy to obtain using this memory wire.  It's not as stiff as the others I've used. 

The wire and the unit actually rotates.  It takes some tries to keep it on.  I am used the the memory wire from my Fi5pro.  It's definitely smaller and lighter.  I like the cable a lot, studier and feels good in your hand.

Really? I guess I should have looked closer. Not as apparent compared to a Westone removable cable.

LOL.  Yeah, I didn't realize it at first either, so you aren't alone.  Westone doesn't color theirs, so that could be reason for that :p

You can kind of see it in this picture.  It kind of blends in with everything, but it's there.

I hate to say it, but I hear it no where near what those graphs show...  I'm not understating it either...  Something just doesn't look right.  Either that or both iPod's I've used (Touch 4G and Touch 5G) have high output impedance. 

I'm going to wait for someone else to confirm the raw measurements. 

EDIT: the treble findings confirm what I say about the treble though (big spike up top :p). 

well a loose seal will tame that bass response.

Really looks just like a TF10 with more treble extension, Logitech definitely tried to keep it close to it.

The seal isn't loose...  It's as deep as I can get it too.  Nothing matches up with what I hear on the graph.  Hopefully someone can confirm his objective findings with a different set of software.
