Where can I get more information on the design of headphones?

Like the title states, I'd like to learn more about how headphones are designed, specifically why the headphones/earphones have the shape they have and how they give the frequency response they reproduce.

Thanks in advance

Loudspeaker and headphone handbook / edited by John Borwick, with specialist contributors. might be what you are looking for. Its in my library, will borrow next week to see the contents.  You would like to read on head related transfer functions as well.

HRTF is the frequency emphasis added by the human ear right? Thanks for the recommendation. I'll see if the local library has a copy beerchug.gif

Its more of a time domain thing. The subject is about how directional cues from sound are perceived in the head. No problem, if you are unable to find a book, AES has a bunch of papers which while not providing the basics of headphone design, delves in-depth into different issues with headphone listening(mainly with HRTF)  :)
