Oh, but no basshead is ever satisfied. The quest for the ultimate can never ends. Hence, the poor wallet. wink_face.gif

Damn sony!! can't stop buying their headphones. luv the mdr zx700 but want more bass. zx700 gives enough bass when im using my laptop but not on my itouch.  Debating on whether to get the new xb600 or the xb500?

Already from the FR graph you can tell XB600 going to be a completely different sound from XB500 so it might be down to preferences, just worth pointing out that XB600 looks to have a V-shape balance and XB500 is more like a slope from bass to highs. It's safe to assume XB600 is going to be less warm & muddy/thick sounding which come from the upper-bass extending too far into the midrange on XB500 which isn't an issue on XB600 and the treblerange isn't recessed like on XB500.

it appears that sony is hiding the specs for the xb800. Maybe its a less flashy version of the X10...

I wonder if the U.S. is getting the XB900?

http://store.sony.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&partNumber=MDRXB800

XB800/900 same ****, different numbering. W00t... $150 USD, thought it would be $199 MSRP, maybe it won't be such a big step up, Sony's MSRP is typically quite a lot higher than street price too except for at launch.

Isn't it obvious? It has a detachable cable with a mic. It seems to be made of "better material" such as the urethane cushion which can also be flip inside out....(if such thing appeals to you). It has a case thats not provided with xb800/900. Most of all its a "celebrity headphone" which equals more style and the "brand name". Both party will be getting paid so they will obviously have to make it pricier.

Thats all I can think of but yea if all those stuff does not matter to you then go for the xb800. Honestly just for those extra accessories it better to just get the xb800.

The link doesn't work for me.  The dog ate the web page.

So the XB800 is the XB900?  Why is the XB900 retailing for $279 while the XB800 is selling for $149?

XB900 is not retailing for $279, that's the price of the pimped X10 or random ebay seller taking advantage of selling at a price gauged price to people who can't wait outside Japan. XB900/800 has always been estimated to be 150~$200. XB900 sells for like $180 on amazon.jp.
