I had them hanging since yesterday and still feels like it's pushing my head.

hmm..... im not sure how long it takes to stretch though, could be more than a few days.... well i know the hd598 has softer pads than the hd558 (since its a higher end model they purposely made it that way) clamping force i heard its a little softer than the hd558

phoned Sennheiser South Africa and they said I should just let it hang while not using it. it will settle in after some time.

hmm i see, hope that works out, wonder how long it would take though

Mine improved a lot since the pads softened up from stock.

Time will tell I guess!

Definitely! I felt like the pads had plastic bags in them initially, all crunchy and hard.

Walking to work and back with them helped a lot.

Are the 598 cups interchangeable with the 558's? Brown and black would look pretty cool. I'd love to try but I think my local audio shop would have an issue with me dismantling the demo products in-store :)

'mazin! I might order some from Sennheiser and see if it works.

if not, expect a spare set to go up on classifieds...

My 598's are the most comfortable headphones I've ever owned or tried. I was thinking of buying a pair of 558's for my computer. Maybe another pair of 598's, if there's a comfort difference.

The erpaads on the hd558 are firmer (but still really comfortable) than the hd598 and the hd518 having the stiffest eepad among the 3
