I can also confirm there isn't any background hiss with my Westone 4 IEMs.  However, if there's nothing playing and you crank the volume up way past where a comfortable volume is you can get some hiss out of it.

The native drivers do support ASIO.  I'm not sure that it's bit perfect though.  In Windows 7 (x64) and XP (x86) the Windows mixer can adjust the volume of the audio output when using ASIO.

 

However, in Windows 7 the mixer has no effect on the volume with Kernel Streaming, WASAPI, or ASIO4ALL.  In Windows XP the mixer has no effect on the volume of Kernel Streaming or ASIO4ALL.

 

Also of note is that the default ASIO4ALLsetting of 512 samples doesn't give smooth continuous audio playback in either Windows 7 or Windows XP.  FWIW, XP is worse than 7,

Thanks for the updates stereodude.

 

I'm glad I'm not the only one trying all these different renderers.  Between the 15.1 & 11.32 and three OSs (XP, W7 & Vista (x86 & x64) and three players (Foobar, MusicBee & Media Monkey), it has been pretty busy....lol...

Does anyone know if this combo would pair well the D7000? Running off my macbook and was looking at this for a sort of entry level combo see what all this DAC/AMP fuss is about etysmile.gif

 

I'm loving the sound signature from these cans and don't want my next bit of equipment to mess with it too much.

 

Any thoughts would be much appreciated

I just placed an order on the NFB 15.1 - if what you are saying is true, i'm a bit concerned Geoo.

 

Has anyone else had problems with bluescreening?

look before even being 100% sure. But first I had no problems of this kind.
bosd only once reset pc 5 times.
Now I have deleted (support asio dll) and put foobar player, it did not happen again. SRy for my english.

 

PS: No problem need only an update driver.:)

Hey liqwidlord,

 

Well, can't help you with the D7000s, but with the D5000s it sounds outstanding.  Tightens everything up while retaining the sexy Denon sound....  Couple weeks ago a buddy spent some time with that combo and he reiterated that it did sound great indeed.

Well, the only time I did get a bsod, was purposely when I was troubleshooting with hi-rez files (24/192) using WASAPI.  I started messing around with the A-GD interface while using WASAPI and basically it was "don't be doing that"...lol...Other than that, nothing.  I posted earlier I have tried 3 OSs with no problems whatsoever and all my music is on a NAS in another room.  WASAPI, KS and the native ASIO driver.  Nowadays after all the testing I just use the ASIO driver.  Foobar, MediaMonkey and MusicBee and one of my final tests was throwing in some hi-rez files in iTunes and rocking with DirectSound...Excellent indeed...

 

Geoo, I'm not sure what files you are using, but remember some filters go only up to 48Khz, so if you try playing hi-rez (24/88.2, 24/96, 24/192 etc.), no sound will emit.  I have been keeping it on Linear phase 'soft-knee' filter (OS2, Filter1) which supports up to 192KHz so don't have to worry about playing different files....

Hi Geoo,

 

Sorry to hear about your troubles...Did more testing with 4x & 8x oversampling as well as my usual OS2 & Filter1 with Foobar and MusicBee and all sounds great.  You are just plugging usb to pc and outputting to headphones?
