Computer room remodel help. New Desk and Workstation

Thread Starter

Hello! I would like to remodel my computer workstation room to that of the 21st century or whatever.

Personally I would like a long table for things and all my components and headphones. Pics are as follows of what I have currently:

slightly Updated ones:

I have a Mid ATX below the desk with a large UPS XS1500 by APC and a sub that is approx 12" x 10" x 10"

So yeah, any recomendations for desks, tables, workstations or combo's of units to make a budget dream setup?

How much space do you have for a desk/desks?

Edit: From what you said in the anime thread, I'm going to guess a modern sleek look with a sort of urban style (Metro UI just comes to mind).

My room is approx 10x 10 so 100 sq feet approx so good enough room, all of it except one side with a door and closet is useable. Nothing in the middle or anything obstructing.

Modern sleek or urban yes.

Do you have any more pictures? How about a shot from the doorway and a picture from the corner or near it that shows the wall with the closet and door.

Do you want all glass? Also, what colored glass? I would assume black. A nice black-brown also looks very nice.

Also need an approximate length of the door so I know how much clearance to give it. I assume you'll only need around 3-4 feet of space in front of the closet or possibly less, which I doubt.

Black or clear is fine, or even earth metals or a very stylish wood would do. Has to be not too bulky but not too thin either.

Door length is a regular CT door........lol

So doors around 3 feet wide. I just measured the one to my basement. Lol. So I'll leave 9 square feet clearance for the door.

I have the urge to want to have you replace those doors.

I don't understand the siding of rooms these days.

Give me a few minutes. Going to make a quick blueprint.

Any exact measurements? Sorry, just curious. I only need wall lengths.

Fine, getting measurer now.

I don't want to mess up a fellow panda's room. I have things planned that I don't want going wrong. smile.gif

Edit: Okay, some quick questions and ideas.

I want to do a nice mix of black glass and black-brown tabletops. Looking at the picture below I think it would be nice to have a corner unit so it takes up two walls, so it's a bit easier to reach stuff instead of having to roll all the way over to another desk/unit.

So the table against the wall will be a left corner table.

And I will add a black glass galant on the right. It's 63" wide so it has plenty of room for your things.

The choice of having A-legs or T-legs is up to you. You will want to keep them a silver color because the left-corner galant doesn't have a chrome legs option, unless you're willing to buy the chrome legs at an extra cost. The flat silver color will also be less flashy and more modern.

I think you'll want to still have drawers, shelves, etc. for storage. I have 3 units you can choose from, either 2 of one or 2 different ones. Your choice.

Or if you want something smaller.

Their lengths match the depth of the desks, so they will be facing sideways, not straight forward.

I don't know if you want wall shelves or not, but I'll keep them out for now. I'll try to do a quick drawing with the approximate 10' by 10' dimensions you gave me.

WE can easily remove the door from the hinges so don't worry about that.

Everything is in Inches

Thanks for the measurements. Check my post edits. I will get to work. Tell me what you think you'll be able to replace and any criticism, as long as it doesn't pull me into despair.

Here's 1 possibility. I just did something quick with sticky notes.

Sorry for the bad image. I had to use my webcam. The desk in the corner is the one below.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S99806947/#/S79836969

The black glass desk is as follows.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S49870846/#/S49870846

And the drawer unit is 1 of the 3 choices I provided above.

You said you didn't like corner so much so I'm going to try to make another one.

Possibility #2.

You have the large glass desk in the center at the wall.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S49870846/#/S49870846

1 small desk on both sides, both are black-brown.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S29820433/#/S69836984

That's optional, but just adds more room.

Then there are 3 drawer units of your choice, 2 on the wall with the AC/window, the other on the opposite wall.

I know. I know...

You can always use the drawers and shelves in the old desk too. I just have this sort of "EVERYTHING MUST MATCH" sort of mindset. I love having things match. Everything ties in with the others around it.

The glass table should be close to touching the wall, leaving less than 10 inches away from the wall but it's not going to be life threatening or anything.

A-leg or T-leg is up to you. I like A-leg for this sort of drafting/engineer desk sort of look. I don't know why I think it has that look. T leg is more minimal, and it's easier to adjust height because you only have to adjust 2 legs for the standard 63" long desk without the extra corner/turn.

I've heard that the T legs make it so the legs extend out under a bit further so the tabletop edge doesn't touch the wall. The A leg depends on what height you set it at. The higher, the further out the 4 legs will be. T legs also cost a bit more. Each leg is $10 I believe, so it adds $20 to the Glass Desk and $40 for some reason for the left-corner desk.

Anyways, enjoy, unless you want more ideas.
