Stumbled upon this site by chance and feeling like a very lucky guy. Wealth of knowledge here that I fully intend to tap into and hopefully contribute to over time.
Because I intend to plug these into the PC sound card initially, I'm posting in the 'Computer Audio' section hope that's okay.
At present I use my PC for all my audio playback, I have a decent 2012 build (with regard to Motherboard/CPU/RAM) and I'm hoping to continue using my Asus Xonar Essence STX which has stood by me well, for what is now considered an old card (around 4 years since release I believe).
My FLAC music collection although varied in genre is dominated by guitar based music.
In the daylight hours I use my speakers but because I can find myself called out to work at odd hours for long spells, I often want to listen to my music at silly o'clock such as 2 or 3 A.M.
I need some closed headphones that don't leak too much sound and that will compliment both my music collection and also my current sound card.
I will be wearing these for long periods so comfort can not be sacrificed for sound quality, I'm looking for that magic balance between the two. I appreciate that for my budget I'm not going to get anything spectacular and I'm certainly not expecting the 'perfect' pair of cans. My thought process here is to post this request for feedback and hope you guys respond and I'll likely trust the majority recommendation.
Just to recap:
Budget - $200/£125 (this can be stretched a touch)
Be great if they didn't leak too much sound on high volume
'Mainly' for rock/guitar based FLAC music
Must work with or even compliment the Asus Xonar Essence STX.
Finally, I know there is information here on this site in particular but some of the threads are dated now and I just want to get the latest, most up to date information possible. My apologies if I'm dredging up and old issue, but advances in audio technology seem to be happening all the time.
All constructive feedback will be great appreciated.
