Marketing...gotta love it.  But hey, it's their own ears they are polluting with crappy sound.

i think bose it good

Bose is still pretty bad but I would have to say they might be the best of the worst.

Sorry to break it to you OP, but if he really is a friend then he would listen to you, without you having to resort to subliminal messages.

It also says a lot about those who have promoted them. I didn't pay much attention to Lady Gaga when she first came out, but by the time Poker Face as a single, I decided to investigate what all the hype was about. I didn't find much to warrant the hype, not to mention I found her disingenuous.

Then I saw that she was promoting Beats headphones in a music video along and in some interview on them or such, said something like "This is how we, the artists, intend for our music to be heard." Guess my initial impression was right after all.

That's still money better spent there than on Beats, lol.

If he JUST bought them then tell him they suck in time for him to exchange them for something else.

I can't ever see myself buying any audio eqiuipment with "by Dr. Dre" on the box. It's just too comical.

Yeah if you're afraid of insulting him you could just say "so now that you're a headphones guy check out this forum". If he really cares either way how good they are then he'd figure it out himself. If he doesn't care, he won't bother.

I wish I knew about this forum before I spent hundreds of dollars on terrible headphones the guitar center salesman described as super awesome.

I don't get it.  If he cares about sound quality then you should have no problem telling him that he got ripped off.  However, if he doesn't care about sound quality but cares about how they look and how cool they are then who are you to say that hes "wasting" his money?
