BTW, I'm still scratching my head and trying to figure out why nobody had the courage to match ToTL cables with some of the best connectors out there - except for that "mysterious" product prototype shown in Portaken recently.

FYI - first one from Taiwan (NT$1,800) was getting raved reviews while the other one from WW should be available in Sham Shui Po for HK$480 a piece (no DIY cables got reviewed yet?)

I'm gonna be honest and say I don't think I can hear any diff in the ATL vs Oyaide Rhodium. The Oyaide gold plated does make a difference and due to my silly mistake, I blamed it on some unnamed maker claiming his cables weren't consistent :p. When eventually it turned out it wasn't the cable but was the Oyaide Rhodium vs the gold plated.

One thing though, the ATL does peel as well so I'm not certain if it's truly that much more durable. It's one heck of a looker though. I mean if I didn't care about the additional cost, I'd use the ATL on all my plugs purely for it's looks ;-).

Anak, what is 'ATL' ?

Oh it's just a (new??) popular 3.5mm plug from Taiwan I think. From SeeYouToo's post :-

It's coating is supposedly more durable than Oyaide's however I've personally not seen that durability. Notice the tip. But the rest of it is a nice looking slim plug :-

Umm...slim maybe but it's the l-o-n-g-e-s-t plug I've ever seen....what's up with that? Just look at the ratio of the plug part to the rest of the body!  ....is that an ATL in your DAP, or are you just glad to see me?

Thankfully with some patience and a few helping hands I have finally received a pair of 1plus2 with silver/gold cable here in Australia (Yay!). People have been asking for some initial impressions, so rather than rewrite everything I will copy what I discussed via PM. Please remember I have only heard 1plus2 for no more than two hours so far, and here's some thoughts.

Obviously with all the fuss behind these I had very high expectations, 1plus2 have met that.

Coherency, dynamics, bass impact all exceeded my expectations, and of course detail/clarity levels are especially high. Another thing standing out to me straight away is 1plus2's left / right channel separation makes it overly easy to locate background instruments, you can really pin point where they're in a recording. Soundstage is wide, Instrument separation solid. Some more time to soak them in will open a door of impressions further, but I am rather impressed. A few songs I've listened to with 1plus2 when climaxes hit I could actually feel solid bass impact and dynamics hit at the same time which made me laugh out loud like a crazy man. biggrin.gif

I find them effectively versatile too which works in everyones favour. There's small amount of vocal sibilance coming through on some tracks, but really nothing more than what's in a recording. I'm also very fond of treble extension and detail in 1plus2's highs. Treble is almost perfect for my preferences, I am possibly surprised some don't find it a little hot sometimes? however, for me it's spot on and to my taste. To be honest 1plus2 excel in several areas which combined together form solid presentation, I lay back so far listening for certain area's like layering, imaging, instrument separation, each area is hard to fault as individual sections. There's also something about their timbre I can't place my finger on which really agrees with me.

Need some more time, anything is subject to change as two hours is just a sniff by any standards.

Nice work H20Fidelity. I do think sometimes the treble can be a bit hot dependent on track but lately I have been yearning more from other speakers and from car speakers for better treble extension and perhaps some forwardness.

It certainly is a nice match between gobs of detail and musicality that may find you succumbed by sonic bliss....well for me at least.

Yes, a breed between musicality and detail, I agree, both meeting somewhere in the middle.

Taylor Swifts song "22" has never sounded so grand. wink.gif

Keen to hear more. Are you the first of the Australian leg of the tour?

Did you listen to that album I linked you to earlier? :). Classical is another great genre to test out the dynamics of this IEM. It's insane :P.

Speaking of songs; if I could take a page out of Music_4321's playbook tongue_smile.gif, some tracks that I found myself enjoying and noting down for some reason whilst listening to the 1Plus2s:

Anberlin - The Feel Good Drag
Lizst Howard - Vol 16 No.17 Intermezzo, A flat
Alter Bridge - Come to Life
Sarah Mclachlan - I Will Remember You
Killswitch Engage - The End of Heartache
Arne Domnérus - Take Five
Akon - Sorry Blame it on Me
Sally Harmon - Julia
Susan Wong - Where Did our Love Go

lol does he really like Akon? Doesn't seem like the type :P.

I like Sara McLachlan's "Angel" song.  Have you ever heard Amy Grants "I Will Remember You". That's a very good song.

I randomly heard this song on the internet radio and got hooked :P

hey man, now you know why i feel do crazy about them, no comparison to V1, sorry to say this. it's one of rare IEMs when you stop comparing and dive into music listen, forget upgrade worries. one of the most musical IEMs that approaches high end speaker quality darn close.

Why on earth did you not include any of my Michael Jackson, Madonna & Justin Bieber faves? They're my top three favourite musicians.
