It wasn't a question, really, but a request—a desperate one at that; I guess you could blame it on the extreme sadness I've been experiencing in the last couple of hours. You see, I'm a bit too emotional and very unstable. Perhaps you don't know this but I'm extremely attached to my IEMs; my daughter tells me, practically on a daily basis, that I have always cared much more about my IEMs, and the K3003s in particular, than her — as a parent, that's a very hard thing to swallow. If only my daughter knew I love her just as much as I love my K3003s…

I'm sorry to hear that if she really did say that :(. The hobby is not easy to share with others. Most won't get it and will just think of you as a snobby audiophile. I tend to keep my gear to myself and not push it on family or friends. Plus not wanting to explain myself. Especially the awkward reactions you get when you mention how much you paid for said gear....

I don't care much about music, TBH, but I do care about my K3003s (and my daughter).

Sad, isn't it?

For fairly obvious reasons — please don't ask me to elaborate.

I'll be completely honest and admit I've caught myself being a bit of a snob at times (something I don't particularly appreciate), but I'm no audiophile (just typing / hearing / seeing the word makes me cringe) — I believe I appreciate and recognise good sound.

For very, very obvious reasons — no need to elaborate, I think.

Knowing that this is the appreciation thread, I will say that my impressions of it are favorable (which is rare for those who know me or who have possibly heard of my reputation as being a hater of sorts. I prefer to think that I'm being honest with myself.)

  • My impressions of the 1plus2 are actually favorable. Reminds me somewhat of the TG334 which I have heard and measured, but I like this better.
  • I don't know what cable I was using, but I do not like thick gauge cables which do not have the utmost in flexibility. I'm not into garden hose like flexibility.
  • The treble is tizzy at times with a peak at ~9k my best guess. This is generally not a bad spot and actually does help to bring about extra definition. Of course I would prefer it to not be there, but again, it's not annoying. (I found the TG334 to be more fatiguing.)
  • I would have preferred to have slightly less overall bass. But I understand the tuning. Most people love the thumping, especially with modern pop recordings. The tuning also happens to work for most classical, but I'm of the opinion that most classical recordings are too midrangy and lacking at the extremes. Most symphonies halls I've heard (including SF, LA) have had a lot more bass and treble than I hear in most classical recordings.
  • Integration of bass dynamic and BA for highs is very good! In comparison, the K3003 integration between the bass and treble is a complete joke compared to these. I really do like the sound of the dynamic driver. That extra bass texture is breath of fresh air having been listening to mostly armature IEMs for a while.

That is a very favorable review for 1p2 especially coming from the venerable Purrin. I was actually waiting for you to say something before I buy since a nod of approval from you doesn't come too easily (which is good in a way). Anyway, if you could take one step further and review the uber cable, it will really help on my decisions.

Below are Measurements of the 1Plus2 courtesy of Purrin. Note this is using the stock silver cable. I was told the gold and uber cable improve upon the dip in the mids and takes the 9khz spike down.

If you say you don't, I promise I won't admit publicly that Rin Choi is my ultimate hero, who, in his conclusion of his K3003 analysis said, among other things, "the AKG K3003 is a great IEM".

Rin Choi called the k3003 an "experiment project" and Rin choi further said "I prefer the IE800".

Thank you so much for such awfully valuable information.

well well well... graphs again... let me give one funny example. when you calculate average temperature in a hospital you would say 36.6°C is perfect measurement and this will be perfectly Ok ... but in reality one patient is having 40°C and another patient is cold dead.... tongue.gif

for me graphs are INEXPLICABLE if my ears do not like the sound and if my ears like the sound graphs are INEXPLICABLE too. the rest is literature and waste of time.

It was just to put this to rest Gintaras so we don't have any of the graph whispers plotting away with a vengeance ;). Nothing wrong with appeasing the objectivists :P.

Any idea if it's the original stock cable or the new one? From Purrin's description it sounds like it's the original.
