The impressions made by John Grandberg and Joker make them to be the top CIEM.. but I am not fully convinced until they put the FitEar mh335 and 1plus2 into consideration......

I don't think they'll really be able to consider the 335 because they'll have to pay for it? Not sure if Fit Ear would provide them with a demo unit?

Considering that they are not 'too fussed' with the US market from what i have been told i doubt they would provide a review unit, a shame really as i would love to see how it would fare!

P.S. For those losing seal way too easily, this may be pretty basic but we don't always do it, try lifting up the top tip of your ear and at the same time, place the tip into that same ear hole. It ensures a more snug fit. It's better for me save for the moment I take out my phone and the wire moves or the wire is tugged.

Just received Heir tips from Heir Audio. I haven't had time to compare sound differences but I definitely get a better seal compared to the stock large ortofons. I use size Medium with the Heir tips.

Thanks to Bangkokkid (Heir US representative) for shipping them out to me. Great price and fast shipping.

Mediums were too big for me. Just ordered a small instead. Might be a while till I receive it. I think the Heir tips provide a "fuller" sound. The ortofon tips give more "air".

I think you are right on this but my source adds a lot of air to it as is. Adding too much isn't my preference either ;).

Ok I finally have it now. I am a little surprise, the tonality sound similar to AKG3003i (reference filter) with a little more bass presence.. I am really surprise. I thought this would sound more like IE800 with superb deep bass but was far from it. Similar treble energy (good thing I love treble) This is just the first 10 min of causal listening with both phone. No burn in yet while AKG has hundreds of hrs on it.

I am loving in. Its really big.. my colleague walk into my office and first thing they notice it 2 red berry stuck in my ear and ask me what I am listening to. I never had anyone asking me when I have AKG3003i.

If anyone is interested you can find my 1plus2 review HERE!

That's interesting. Was really cool to be able to demo the 1plus2, however briefly, and made me a believer in high end IEM (more so than the IE800 has to be said) with the resolution and every spectrum lifted to another level compared to my current stable. The Rhapsodio R^2 was not on your table though was it?

So you agree with me then on it having some relevance to the AKG3003. I find these IEMs to be more on the neutral side of things to be honest. Not dead neutral but along those lines to an extent. And it reminded me of the AKGS (which I had pointed out to you earlier as a reference). Just I find it an upgrade in all respects :). Bass is very powerful and plentiful. But the key is how controlled it is. The decay is very fast and it reaches very deep while having lots of punch. Mid bass doesn't lack either and lends itself to the mids in a complimentary way. The bass comes and goes. Doesn't linger too long and cloud the sound one bit :).

Thank You Sir and also lee730, I ordered a pair yesterday, must admit to loving my Bass and Swimsonny's review and this thread in general seems to suggest that these are the IEM's for me. I used the contact form from the site (I am from the UK) and as soon as Gavin woke up (wherever he is) he got straight back to me and said that he could have a Pair of Black on Black Carbon Fibers ready by the time I get back from work in three weeks. As you will see I am not very experienced in Head Fi or indeed particularly capable of writing amazing reviews. I will of course chip in my "two'penny's worth" when I receive them and have had a good listen.

I was going to go for Heir Audio but a particular Headphone Supremus (who seems to just KNOW what I will like) lightly suggested that I should look at these. I suspect what he was really saying was "Nah you want these over those" but of course it is my money and he was just making a suggestion. By the sounds of the reviews (and I had never heard of these before) he is bang on the money for what I am looking for in an IEM.

Yep agreed they were not cheap, $1450, after reading the comments on this thread I went for the silver and gold cables, but hey...by the sounds of things (no pun intended) it is money well worth spending. I was willing to round the houses to find something really good, but maybe I will get lucky with these and find IEM heaven with my second hit.

Gavin from Tralucent has been simply brilliant with the customer service.

Now it sounds like I am best off ordering some tips in advance so that I can get the best seal when they arrive. I have pretty big ear canals, or so it would seem, I always use the biggest ones that come with IEM's.

By reading it sounds like I should be ordering some perhaps from Heir Audio and some Ortofon ones, any help here would be really welcome.

Thank you to everyone for taking so much time to write what you have written on this thread, all of it has been read and ended up with a purchase.

Cheers!

Wow that is pretty sweet. What IEMs are you coming from BTW? Moving up fast aren't we ;).

The ortofons are the ones included. Otherwise the red heir large are nice too. And Gavin has some new ones that are nice, he might include them.

:) I am currently using Ultrasone IQ9's which I am fairly impressed by, I find them exciting and very very detailed, but I simply cannot deny (and I need to update my review to emphasise this) that although the sound stage is wide and deep and the detail is amazing, and even though it says on the packaging that they are bass orientated IEM's or something like that, I am afraid to say that even with the perfect seal those lows are there but seriously recessed and sometimes totally missing from certain tracks, they also can't seem to quite "keep up" when the BPM's rise. So although I do really enjoy them, they are really nice to be able to hear astonishing detail and as such provide a different listening experience, but the bass response is just not enough for me, or by the sounds of things a few others also.

I agree I am moving up quickly, to be honest I just think that this site is brilliant resource and everyone has been so friendly with me being new to it and I kind of think "Well you could spend a fortune trying things out and eventually arrive at what you are looking for, or you could spend some time doing some proper reading, trying to do some proper writing and befriending some of the experience on the boards" I think that I will end up spending less money this way at the end of the day.

I think really it could be summed up with the signature at the bottom of your posts :)

I tend not to do anything by halves!! What's the point?!
