They have a wider bore than the Ortofon ones? I think they kinda help in giving a bigger presentation.

Do not have them to compare now.

Has anyone here directly compared the 1 Plus 2 with the K3003 ?  Not the early versions but the later versions of both models. I am sorry to ask if it has been talked about in depth but i couldn't find anything. I think i will be getting one or the other and i am just looking for that little nudge in either direction.

What sort of sound signature are you looking for? I have the 1plus2, and I've heard the k3003. They are both, in my opinion, completely different.

Thanks for that... What i am after is a large sound stage, natural decay, fast and textured bass, extended treble with no brightness or fatigue, great mid range layering so voices are clear, and natural tone. Not too much then )  I listen to Jazz, Jazz Vocals, Electronica, 60s - 70s folk rock, Classical Guitar and Piano... heck pretty much everything except or heavy metal and way out west country.

Oh and i love to hear all the subtleties of voice and instruments so sepeation and detail are really important.

Well, if I was still in Perth, you could demo my 1plus2s. Unfortunately, I've left. I spent 6.5 years there.

Anyhow, the 1plus2 fits your bill save for potential issues in respect of brightness. Fatigue depends on an individual. Some are more fatigued by particular types of sound, some others aren't.

The k3003 is a very very neutral sounding IEM. And it depends on what kind of IEM you want. If you want to go for neutral and reference, then the k3003 would be your pick. It would excel with instrument presentations i.e. jazz and vocals etc. It isn't as quick or as fast sounding as the 1plus2. But please bear in mind I'm an IE8 user i.e. I do like bass, but I also have the k702 which is from the AKG range. The k3003 is a very decent set of IEMs, but within the choice of say the IE800s, the k3003s or the 1plus2, it'd be the 1plus2 then the IE800 then the k3003 for me. This isn't because the k3003 is bad, but more because of what suits my tastes more.

The 1plus2 on the other hand is more expansive, has faster and more textured bass than the k3003, and is more engaging/fun sounding. It's potential weakness, and I say weakness generally and more as nit picking, is potentially with female vocals. It doesn't mean it is bad, but it could be portrayed in a more "lush" and less 'thin" a fashion. In terms of instruments etc, you'd be fine with the 1plus2s. They do well, but it also depends on the mastering/production of the music. For example, I listen to Fall Out Boy, and their mastering/production is rubbish and everything sounds congested. If you weren't aware, you'd think it was the IEM's issue. It isn't. So finding the right tracks to push the limits of the IEM also makes a difference. The 1plus2's could also be a little bright mind you, but some have reported no issue with this, some say it goes away after awhile. My opinion, your ears will get used to it. Again, it could be the track's mastering too.

Personally speaking, when one listens to reference type IEMs, music seems a little more "distant", not distant in terms of soundstaging, but distance in terms of being less intimate.

Hopefully this helps a little. Please ask if you have anything more specific. I'm sure others can chip in as well. Also bear in mind that my time with the k3003 was limited, so please differ to others' opinion on this as well if possible.

Thanks very much for your response.. I have had others opinions on the 1 plus 2 but not in comparison to the AKG. Your detailed response is appreciated..
