I don't like the silver as much as the coppery/gold. Given some of the other options I've seen I prefer the copper/gold the most, otherwise I'd prefer something more subtle but I'm not a big fan of the the carbon fiber look.

Those photos look stunning and i love the cable - I too prefer the stealth look but would wear glittery pink IEM's  if the sound was world class !

Lee - that trip to Thailand I mentioned at xmas - I dont suppose tralucents will have any representation there will they ?

Sorry if it has glitter on it it won't be worn in public by these ears lol ;). One great thing about Customizing your order :).

won't those cables eventually turn green after a period of time?

Only those Westone stock ones do I think, and some other bad stock cables. I think the PVC is fine, I've used IEM cables with PVC for a while now and they're still looking fine as long as they are of high quality.

If you are referring to silver cable no it shouldn't turn green. I've had my IE80 for well over a  year and it hasn't changed color at all. You are mistaking the Westone cable which is not silver cable but copper wire with a clear covering. I had that cable on my TF10s and it turned green in less than a month here.

Copper cables turn green when oxygen intrudes between the potential space between the wire and the dielectric, due to oxidation. Silver will oxidize into a black/brown color. Cables shouldn't normally oxidize if the sleeving is robust enough, but things happen. That's why I don't like clear sleeving all that much, and prefer sleeving like translucent black and full black.

Hmm strange because my IE80 cable didn't exhibit any color changing. The cable did appear to be duller in color though although that was due to the actual cable coating wearing with time. When I sent it back in he replaced the covering again along with better connectors and a plug and it looks brand new again so the cable didn't discolor at all.

elnero might be bit surprised by this post. I somewhat feel bad about this since it feels like I've back-stabbed him. We've been discussing about audio gears in general and he has generously offered for some advice, so the least thing I could have done was PM him and mention that I recently decided to get 1Plus2.

I had some spare money after selling my old Rane 57 and Pioneer DJM 909 so I decided to order 1Plus2, not because I am ignoring elnero's advice on shopping smart and finding better source; but because I just can't justify with expensive sources. I've been a long-time lurker of ABI, stuck with Clip, Sony, and iPods. I will definitely  get around and try to widen my experiences with different sources sometime next month. Look at me, making excuses already. frown.gif

I can't comment on how 1Plus2 sounds yet, but I can pitch in my 2 cents on the customer service. They are very sincere, friendly, and I feel satisfied doing business with them. At one point or another I actually felt bad because I kept changing my mind at unreasonable pace but they were very responsive and met my demands in a short period of time. I am not saying they are saints or anything, this a business not some charity work. But the amount of effort Gavin puts in to have have good communication definitely deserves some applaud.

There's only so much I can say, but that pretty much concludes my personal experience with Tralucent Audio.

There's already extensive amount of impressions on the thread, so I hope this helps for those who are curious how their customer service is like.

Thanks Bokyung that is very admirable of you to let others knows of their customer service. It is superb. I also had some issues myself and they fixed it in a timely manner and were very helpful in communications. It would be very nice if you can post this on the Rhapsodio thread to clear up the garbage building up at the end of the thread. :).

Now regarding the sources I really do agree with elnero on this if he is talking about upgrading your sources. You are only as good as your weakest link my friend. The 1Plus2s are very capable and scale extremely well on higher end gear. I owned several Sansa products and even own an iphone4 and while they will do fine with my IEMs they won't wow me like my good sources do. It's kinda like running your luxury high performance car on watered-down,low-grade octane gas.. It will still drive but it will drive like **** lol ;). You won't be getting the full performance out of your gear. Then again that also depends on what IEMs or headphones you'll be using. Using lower end gear generally won't be worth the upgraded source as that would then be another weak-point in the chain :).

Cheers. beerchug.gif

One way to make your i~devices(and probably the others but I have not tried) better is the get a AMP/DAC combo. The two portable's I know of that you can purchase and receive right away are GO DAP X $449 and Fostex HP-P1 $619.  I can tell you this, when you first plug in your DAP, turn on the AMP/DAC regardless of how good your IEMs are (And Tralucent for sure is good) your mouth will drop open and your SQ will be 100% better. It's amazing what happens.

Even on poorly copied or recorded music. Some of these, a million dollar rig won't help but the majority will.

Sometimes it will even make the track sound worse depending on how revealing it is lol :).

Strangely enough on the Triad on certain tracks where I felt they were very harsh and sibilant they actually sound noticeably less so. One very good example is Adels Rolling in the Deep. I've come to realize that while the tracks 16/44 limitation is a big part of the sibilance issues (her vocals are very strong and need more room to breath) the Triad is able to still very much handle the dynamics in the track although I still feel the dynamics don't have enough headroom (due to compression) in the track in comparison to the 24/96 version. So the end result is less sibilance and harshness and more enjoyment. There are some other tracks that have exhibited this as well but it's shocking when you come to the realization ;).

Haha, that's exactly what elnero said. I wanted to get the HiFi M8 after he mentioned it to me. I just got a PM saying there's still a slot for a preorder. I am going to preorder but I am not sure when it's going to be released.

I looked around and was tempted to get a used DX100 but the seller was facing some unexpected personal problems so things didn't work out.

Then 801 caught my attention so I asked around and got few responses back. Too bulky, etc etc etc.

I will just take my time and explore around for now. Will probably have to get get some sort of amping soon , since I gave my used O2 (got it cheaply, like 40 bucks) to my acquiescence as an early xmas present.

Yeah, I never owned a single DAC in my life. Just few amps here and there. I will have to look into this combo, although it does sound bit expensive for my pocket right now :(
