• I wish the mids were more forward in the presentation space, though I'm a little conflicted. The mids are not forward because the 1Plus2 is tuned that way to give off the "performance hall" feeling, but it lacks the intimacy of other 'traditional' IEMs. I also wished it were a little more laid-back. It's almost as though I have to spend all my time fixated on the music when the 1Plus2 is playing!

 

I'm still sorting out a version of the review suitable for the custom chronicles retrospective thread, and that'll be its final resting place on head-fi, but the current version is up on CYMBACAVUM. That post is also populated with pretty pictures and cartoon excerpts.

The sub bass is powerful IMO but extremely well controlled (tight and punchy). I don't find it to be overly bassy at all. I find my 8As to be more bassy as well as the older 1Plus2 model. Same applies to the 334. We all do hear things differently though . Particularly when using the gold cable I found the mids to be my favorite aspect on this IEM.

That's the thing though. Sub bass being the best was the phrase used. But it's qualified by what one has heard and how much one likes in their bass as well. I could be someone who hates bass and because a particular model reproduces it in a particular amount that I can tolerate and like, may not mean it suits someone else or that it is accurate or that it was how the producer meant it to sound. It's so subjective.

Just trying to figure out where people are coming from with their comments as well though. Like it's common knowledge I have IE8s so it can be inferred I like bass in general and therefore I may have different sonic preferences from someone else. So in that sense it would mean more to me if someone says the 1plus2s have very good bass and sub bass if that person had IE8s and liked bass in the first place contra someone who comes from using bass light earphones for example

Yes, it's all relative. :) Which is why I'm not going to quantify sound by itself, but draw comparisons to something like the LCD3.
