you're confusing two different properties...

 

you could not say a ferrari 458 is of lesser build quality because it would more sustain more physical damage in a head-on collision than a vehicle of similar or like quality build such as a S-class or G-Wagen ...sorry but being less robust is not synonymous of poor build quality...

Even in terms of build quality toads the Studio V is better made IMO. It looks better even in athletics in comparison. The AK100 looks cheaper made just based on appearances if that is what you are referring to :). Pictures don't do it justice. When you see it in person it is quite something.

Anybody with a RWAK or AK compared it to a Colorfly C4? If so, can you give me a quick comparo, please...

Spkrs01 has a unit. You'd have to PM him though to get his impressions on the unit in comparison to his Studio V and DX100. Keep in mind he did tell me he'll need a couple weeks with the unit to figure it out :).

I have both and the quick comparo would be:

RWAK100: Portable, Analytical, dual SD slots. Playlists, FLAC and ALAC up to 192/24, has trouble with bigger 'cans. EDIT: No gapless.

C4: Bigger, warmer, crazy-ass soundstage, single SD Slot, "Play Error!" (Which stops continuous playback), only plays WAV up to 192/24 (everything else can only go up to 44/16), can drive cans like the LCD-3s well.

SQ wise I really like the C4 better but portability-wise I like the RWAK100 better. I keep the C4 for serious home listening and the RWAK100 for on-the-go listening with a small cellphone case you can clip to your belt. Both have no "true line out", but the RWAK100 has its optical out.

So there.

I'm curious to hear the C4 and its huge sound stage. The descriptions you say on both players encompass what the Studio V is for me. Very analytical yet musical (can't say really warm, it's more of a cold sound) and a very wide and vast sound stage. The most airy sounding player I've heard yet :).

The C4 sounds warm and it feels like you're falling with how wide the soundstage is...

Also on another note I was able to try AnakChan's 1plus2 briefly and I couldn't go through my sibilant test song without cringing and stopping my RWAK100... Good short meet though, AnakChan! Thanks again xD

Hmm so are you saying there is a difference with AnakChans pair of 1Plus2s to yours? I did notice treble spikes on the RWA AK100 for what it's worth and is one of the reasons I sold it. Still my opinion stands that the Studio V 3rd ANV is the better match.

Ahh. I definitely notice the gold cable to be smoother sounding on the treble. But I've grown to like the silver cable for its super transparency and detail. But the key is I don't listen at really high volumes. For sure if I intended on listening at higher volumes the gold cable would be prime for that. But I'd still have issues regardless lol. That is with all IEMs. Besides the IE8 ;). But after a while I'd get fatigued even on those :P.

 

But I know exactly where you are coming from with the daggers comments. The EX1000 nightmare still haunts me lol. But that was at even relatively low volumes for me (I could go noticeably louder on my 1Plus2s and not get that pain from treble spikes)....

Well AnakChan I guess we share a similar experience to the treble spikes. I felt that way regarding the EX1000. It felt like my ears drums were getting stabbed lol. Some others though it was comical that I even made the comment. Just goes to show they've never had such pain from an IEM like that before (ignorance is bliss ;). I liken that pain to an audiologist sticking an ear probe too deep into your ear canal. Same pain :P.

It was harsh alright, but I'm happy I went with the Goldies... Also on another note I didnt feel that pain at the audiologist's last week smily_headphones1.gif

She went extra deep in my ears lol. I had a little build up at the entrance to my canals so she dug deep ;). Heir requires deep/detailed impressions so she made sure to get it right on the first go... I noticed my hearing was slightly improved after that visit as well lol.

 

The thing is about the silver cables is it is very revealing on the 1Plus2s. If you tracks are crap it's gonna destroy them... But since I've gotten so use to it and how dang good it sounds on the 3rd ANV I felt a bit underwhelmed on the gold cable (like something was missing). So I've reverted back to the silver and I'm most likely gonna stick to that.
