Ultrasone Signature DJ - Page 63

Thanks guys for confirming that these do stretch. There must be some flexibility in the plastic construction then or at the joints. I should be getting these ultrasone dj headphones soon as I do think that they could be the best closed+isolating headphones sonicaly I've come across. Their sense of depth is what puts them above the sig pro in my eyes and I didn't find them have a recessed midrange in the grand sense of things.

@peitcux

What did the construction look like when you dissembled the headband - what did you do to tighten them?

Lastly, is it just me or are the pads different from the sig pro. I find the ones on the dj to be more comfortable for some reason.

Yep.

At least to me they were.

They also look different too. (I think I had a picture somewhere of both pads...)

I read all you guys mentioned about sig DJ, all 60 of them so far. And I will have it next week.

However, the only reason i bought sig dj is possibility to remind me ED9. Chance to meet shadow of ED9.

I had ED9 2years ago, and i never forget the sound of ED9. And i wnat to get it back, but can`t get a chance. and I want more comfortable headphone.

But it`s really amazing that none of you ever mention  a comparison with the edition 9.

I think sig DJ is the closest headphone to ED9. That`s conclusion After all i been through information you guys said.

So the question is "do you think SIG DJ is similar to the ED9?"

Maybe because not many people ever heard the ED 9?

All I can do is show you some pictures:

  • headband diassembled :

How did I tighten the clamping force:

  • folded them like this and pressed them together as much as possible

here is a comparison of PRO and DJ after my this treatment on the PROs:

The pads are different on both phones. But I called Ultrasone HQ and they told me that the spare part is the same for both. As the PRO is a year older, maybe they improved the quality of the pads over time. And BTW, the vinyl pads from the HFI series also fit, but they sound a little off I feel.

For what its worth xkwh867 you might like to know that the Sig Pro is built using a tweaked ED 9 driver.

Not sure on the Dj however.  If you search around here you may find more info to support that claim.

The SIG DJ uses a 50mm Mylar driver like the DJ 1/DJ pro and PRO 550. But it is an improved version for sure.

Sigh. Ordered used B-stock pair from Thomann to try out, but it seems someone before me managed to brake them, right side is silent... didn't bother to mention it when returning? Idiot. rolleyes.gif

So I guess they are not indestructible. biggrin.gif Pretty hard to judge sound with one driver..

Ugh! That sucks!! :(

Hopefully they'll do right and send you a working pair!

P.S. I hate Thomann and don't trust their "stock" indicators anymore! lol

I'm sure they would but too lazy to bother, just getting refund. I was just slightly curious to hear these. Since I've ordered lots of stuff there for 10 years, I figure I have a right to get some freebies to try now and then, hurray for free shipping both ways. wink.gif See I'm a nice guy and usually get B-stock so it won't get any more "used" by me.. also it's nice to order some small stuff like cables along..
