Ultrasone Signature DJ

I'd be less concerned about scratching than I would be about the hinge mechanism. The Fostex just seems fragile at that spot. But if it's going to be staying in one spot it's probably not a major issue.

Edit: FWIW, if you're going to be stationary I'd probably lean TH900. If you can demo a pair that would obviously be best. Don't know how well you remember the Sig Pro sound, but if you like the Fostex significantly more it's safe to say you'd choose it over the DJ as well.

I ended up getting a TH600. Still curious about the Sig DJ but the TH600 is cheaper and I think I'll prefer its bass presentation based on what I've gathered from comparisons (subbass rumble over midbass punch). Plus the low isolation will be a plus... It's always awkward when people trying to talk to me have to tap me on the shoulder lol

Now someone needs to buy some of my stuff!

with signature dj having the best sub bass?

i can agree with you, if you like how th600 sounds like, all is fine!

the objective of this hobby is getting the best sound, or at least the sound you like the best.

Hey, just wanted to chime in, its been 4-5 months or so since i've been on here. Why did i come back? To post about how ****ing awesome these headphones are. Lol, I doubt i will ever get over these. I've had them for a year and a half now, and every time i put them on my head i get that "Wow" feeling. I used to have comfort issues but over time i think the earpads have shaped to my head or something, I never have any discomfort anymore.

And also, Drop Sequences dubstep remix of Alive is still i think one of the hardest hitting songs I've heard. Great song as well.

That and Beautiful by Obsidia are my two go to songs.

I meant that the TH600 has more subbass emphasis. According to comments I've read here. Havent heard the DJ so no clue how accurate that characterization is.

signature dj has much more sub bass than anything. in fact, i could think about ultrasone dj line that they really need a little more 100 hz bass, because they are very lacking in that region.

then, th600 should sound exactly as sig dj in this departament. I took no interest in it, as it does not isolate as good as sig dj, and i cannot test one before buying.

I don't know how the th600 sounds at all, bit from a bass standpoint i think the sig dj has much more mid bass than sub, although there is plenty of both.

Well, they'd be less underrated if they had a proper price.

well... the price is pretty high, but they are a great contender to other flagship headphones.

just think that it can have an amazing soundstage at times.

also, if anyone around wants to help me, i really need some help

So I've been listening to Sig DJ for three days straight, all kinds of music, out of my macbook pro / schiit magni.
Soundstage width/depth on those seems to be way worse than on bigger over-ear headphones like Fostex TH series and even Beyerdynamic DT770.
Speaking of the latter, I expected Sig DJ to be a significant upgrade over DT770 in every regard, but have been somewhat disappointed so far. I get more (controlled) bass and the sibilance is gone, but I lose on the soundstage and comfort.
Is S-Logic simply not working for me or something? Should I give them more time?

Had you tried other ulotrasones before?

I think that S logic does not work with everybody, every position on the head of the headphone.

For me, sig dj was the ultimate end game headphone. I am yet to hear any fostex, so I cannot compare with them.

What music are you using? What software?

I'm playing ALAC (lossless), 320kbps mp3 and 256kbps AAC files via iTunes. All kinds of stuff, from Compay Segundo and John Coltrane to Eminem, Run the Jewels and Future Islands.

I only had a brief listen to Signature Pro and was similarly unimpressed. Liked Sig DJ more so decided to give them a chance, especially after reading through this thread.

Hmm.. Your experiences seem strange. I never thought that S logic might not work with someone's ears. Hm.. Try other amps. Ultrasone needs some power to not be congested. For example, for me a Fiio x5 did an amazing job, while most of my other players (J3, clip+, smartphones) were unable to get such good results.
