That seems like a rather steep price for such plasticky looking headphones.  Hate to say it, but they really don't look like much at all.

Sent from a keyboard...

Could the AKG Tiesto K267 be a worthy competitor to the Ultrasone DJ at half the price, or even better as an all-arounder with its user-adjustable bass?

nah, i doubt it.  akg/karman would make anything decent.  you've been saying you want something with big bass, have you tried beyer custom pro?  it's actually very good.

I read the mids are recessed and not great resolution on the Beyer.  The trick for me is great, big, tight bass with excellent mids and highs- still trying to find one headphone that meets all these requirements for portable use.

What about the touches like glass covered cups and leather wrapped pads and headband?  Even though plastic, it seems extremely durable.  Also, quality is part of the Signature line at a slightly lower price than Sig Pro.

the mids is not that recess and i thought they have decent resolution.  of course not signature pro kind of good but for 200 bones....worth a shot

After having tried some Ultrasone, I don't like S-Logic at all. It makes music sound unnatural.

Do the higher-end Ultrasone like the Edition 8, 10 and Signature still have the issue of having somewhat of a metallic quality to the sound?

Not to my ears.  I find everything Ultrasone from the Pro 900 down so shrill that I can't listen to them for any period of time.  Their top end is a different experience altogether.  I love the Edition 8 and Signature Pro.  They are similar to my ears with incredible detail in the mids, excellent bass extension with a solid punch and incredibly detailed highs that are a shade bright, but never offensive or sibilant.

So... RMC sent me an invoice today...which means that these headphones will probably start shipping mid-October or so (i.e. next week...)

I talked to Ultrasone USA today and they said they should be receiving the first shipment of Signature DJ by the end of next week.

Oh wow, I'm in love.  With both her and the headphones.  The ear cups definitely look more roomy.
