Atrio m5 mg7 getting the most out of them

Hello, New to the forums. I recently purchased the Atrios M5 MG7. I'm currently using them with Galaxy S1 (i9000) and with the onboard audio of my Toshiba laptop. I was wondering if the onboard audio is giving me the best sound possible with these bad boys? If now, which DAC, amplifier, sound source (i.e mp3 player etc.) would you recommend below $100. I'm sure these earphones are capable of more than what I'm getting with onboard audio. HELP ME OUT.

Look at Fiio E11. It was very good when I amped my MG7, the bass boost EQ's nearly blow your brains out with the Atrio.

Thanks for the quick feedback H20Fidelity,

i saw mix reviews on amping these MG7's, that they do not require an amp. would the source make any significant difference e.g a portable usb dac or a sound card or an mp3 player? i am getting the best sound out of these on my Samsung galaxy S (i9000). when using the fiio e11 i wont mind the bass as long as its not overpowering, a bit more would be a cherry on top!, but its the highs i am concerned about because they are sharp enough already.

how would this

NuForce Icon uDAC-2 compliment the MG7's

its a bit over my budget but its manageable.

 your help much appreciated!.

I would suggest ZO 2.3. I have owned the E11 for a while it is definitely a very good amp and is capable of driving most full size headphones. But I have sold the E11 and kept the ZO. ZO will also smooth out those highs a bit as it gives a little bit darker sound. And the bass boost of Zo does miracles with the Atrio's bass basshead.gif biggrin.gif
