About 5 weeks ago, my Fidelio X1 developed a mild case of intermittent audio.  The 3.5mm jack connector on the headphone was causing the problem.  I had to fiddle with it to get a good connection and try not to move around or bump the cable connector.   I still need to get it fixed, but until then I got one of those $149 X1 deals from Amazon 2 weeks ago.

What comes with the new X1?  is there one or two cables?  I know one is 1/4" jack and wonder if there's a 2nd that is 1/8".  Is there an adapter? Is there any storage bag? Anyways, curious what comes in the box.

Thanks,

i don't know if the ones from the goldbox deal were new or old, but the one i got from the goldbox deal came with 1 cable (1/4" jack) and a 1/8" adapter. no storage bag.

I believe all of the Gold Box Deal headphones were new.

Look at the first page of this thread under "reviews" for links and all of your questions should be answered as to what is in the box.

V Moda arrived today.

The 3m Fisual will be used when I need to work on other things far away from the DAC and this for everything else.

It's not as flexible as the Fisual cable but I can see it outlasting it over the years as everything feels tank like.

I'm now sorted for headphones for several years minimum. Let's see how long these last.

Had the same problem when I first purchased the X1 from Amazon. Just contacted them and asked for a replacement.

Guess I'll do the same too. There is no explanation for this other than faulty socket which may manifest itself again sometime later. It isn't bad contact.

Definitely, I managed to fix it temporarily by rotating the cable plug but it would still cut out from time to time or when touched. I wont live with it as I paid $250 for it.

That end usually plugs into the player, but I supposed should work either way. Nice pic, as usual! biggrin.gif

Yeah, that's crazy - I would definitely get a replacement. You shouldn't have to tinker with it. It's a brand new item.

So I finally got back here in LA and tried out the X1s..................................WOW.......

These headphones are so impressive that I am just speechless. These along with the MA900s, are my first expensive headphones (Although the X1s I got them for 150 lol). I have been using them on my laptop using Razor surround sound, Dolby Advanced Audio v2 (comes preinstalled in my laptoop), and Creative Labs Recon3d with my PS3. So far I love how they sound with the Recon3D, using games like Ghost Recon Future Soldier, BF3, Resident Evil 6 and Revelations soound pretty good. Those games I play on PS3. On my Laptop, I have used them on BF3, BF4, Counter Strike, Ghost Recon Online, only with Razor and Dolby Advanced. Have not used the Recon3D on my laptop yet, other than configuring it for my PS3.

I like how the bass kicks in when you pump out some rounds from like an LMG in BF4 or in B3. I can still hear from what direction the bullets or the sound of a chopper is coming from. Although sometimes the bass does kick in too hard that it might just drone out some of the sounds.

In terms of music, I love listening to music on spotify and I usually listen to some Trance, Dance, some Hip Hop, R and B, Spanish Latin Music and honestly, these genres sound really good with these headphones. Im no audiophile expert but honestly, this headphone does its job very well in terms of being a FUN headphone.

Also just received my X1 yesterday... I can't be objective because they're my first real headphones and I'm still under influence and for now I'm really impressed :D

It's frightening how much better they are in comparison with my worn out Speedlink Medusa 5.1 gaming headset, even when plugged in my onboard soundcard. My amp&dac are still on the way, so I couldn't refrain from plugging them in anyway.

With flac music I could hear every instrument and its position. I've listened some songs that I listened before and noticed some tones that I didn't know even existed! It's like a whole new dimension for me. And bass...I don't remember if I ever heard any bass go so low, like from the basement. You can sense the drivers tremble in ultra-low bass songs. In such songs, you can barely hear it, but you sense the drivers tickling your ears. It was really something new for me :D The drivers inside these cans have the ability to produce that long lasting deep bass, from barely audible tones to higher ones. It's not the cheap sounding shallow bass, it goes really, really deep.

As for the clarity of other tones, well, I can hear every imperfection of songs now :D When they're good, it's like having live band with instruments positioned around your head, 2 meters from your left and right ear. You can get really easily immersed.

As for the movies, well, It's like watching a movie in theater. They're mighty powerful headphones, deliver clear tones and deep punchy bass...don't know what else to say. If you're coming from crap headphones like I did, don't hesitate :)

Can't wait for amp&dac to arrive!

Went from velour pad ATH-M50 to the X1. If the countless other praises haven't convinced you yet, let me add my 5 cents.

The comfort is supreme. The M50s would clamp so badly, I'd leave them on a Master Chief helmet to stretch out the band a bit--which helps, but couldn't wear them for more than an hour or so because of how tight they seemed to crush my head. The SQ was good on them, but soundstage was so lacking in games.

The X1 soundstage was a huge leap forward in most regards. I felt like a damned wallhacker in Counter Strike, cuz I'd so easily hear anyone who wasn't walking or crouched. It felt pretty badass to aim at a corner, knowing some unsuspecting terrorist is going to run right into my crosshairs. Comfort is there. Open design is wonderful and natural sounding. Mids felt accurate, bass didn't feel any worse from the M50s. Treble might have a bit of sparkle, but I've never felt fatigued yet with the cans. V-moda cable was recommended because of lower impedance. It's damn expensive but I have no other complaints with it. These headphones are easy to drive with my Lumia 521 and my PC's onboard audio (I believe that's 200 OHM so no surprise there). My biggest complaint is the earpads aren't replaceable. Seems like planned obsolescence. Also they were on sale for $150 on amazon briefly, which makes me believe the price is a bit marked up more than they should be. Headphone manufacturers probably don't have great profit margins anyway, so these aren't really dealbreakers for me.
