[New] Philips Fidelio X1 - Page 222

As far as technical abilities, they're a notch above things like the Sennheiser HD5x8, ADx00, and MA900.  They're are about on par with headphones like the DT880 and Q701.  They're just slightly less refined than headphones like the K712 and the HD650.

That's just purely technical though, not a ranking of where I'd put them in terms of how which I prefer or enjoy.

thanks! picking up a second pair!!

finally got my X1 from amazon.. Opened the box carefully and put em on the first time and wow, very comfy!

Plugged them in on my M-Stage and then no sound from right driver, switched to mediabridge cable, still no sound on the right cup! FML.

Now I have to wait for monday to come around for the replacement...

Sorry, man...the weekend's gonna be long for you.

Wow, I had started looking at the X1s this week because I was interested in a good headphone for EDM music and read through this thread. Needless to say the sale on amazon did it for me and I definitely pulled the trigger :P

They should get here right around the same time I get my Schiit Vali + Modi next week. I'll post pics and my impressions.

Been hearing a lot about the cable on this too. I'm about to pounce on that amazon deal but what replacement cable would be recommended? (I'd like to keep it cheap).

Are you in the UK? I have the Fisual S-Flex Mini which is quite highly rated.

US east coast.

The Monoprice cables are cheap and MLE has used the Mediabridge cable with the X1 as well.

Without going back 222 pages, has anyone swapped pads? I'm thinking J-money Beyer's or Alpha pads.

It looks like they are glued in, but I'm ready to rip away if anyone else has done it, I am not a pioneer modder I am a sheep modder.

If/When I do get this pair, I'll probably use my extra M-100 cable, as prescribed by Tyll.

Im on the hunt for my entry into quality head-fi. So far these and the Beyerdynamic DT880s have caught my eye.

Basically, Philips X1 or Beyer DT880 + Sabre USB DAC. Or should I buy the dac with either?

Philips are easy to drive > go with them for use with the Sabre chip. They ought to compliment eachother (HT chico), however sticking a reasonably priced amp in the chain will definitely help as well.

BTW.. my X1's are taking a long time to burn in.... For me the effect seems real... and I'm sure it's not just my brain. My completely disinterested GF went wow a few hours ago compared to when I got them. Or.............. maybe she's just humouring me.
