If you can't hear a diffeence, you just aren't tuned to the difference. There's a lot more at play than just a similarity. Amps will help with busy passages in music, or impedance spikes where say a 60ohm headphone can jump up to 300ohm at certain frequencies. WEhen something isn't proficient at that high a level of impedance, you lose dynamics, impact, and clarity. But hey, if you're fine with onboard, enjoy.

If onboard sounds the same, then you've been blessed with special ears that will keep you from spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on the Head-Fi addiction.

It's actually a good thing.

Well, i won't go into that discussion, since this is not the Sound Science forum. New members reading here just should know that not everybody hears these differences between amps, DACs and cables. It can save them a lot of money.

Something that I made to keep my new X1 in good shape. I fabricated it myself using 8mm Acrylic.

Thanks Darknet for your heads up. Posted in the DIY headphone stand thread too.

Well the acrylic is not that expensive. But I have quite a bit of powertools to help me sand down the edges and polish shine.

Hope you liked it :)

Stand looks great, nice work!  The X1 is such a show piece.  Until it gets on your head, then it just starts looking silly lol
