Inakustik Star MP3 (1,5meter) 0,2
Inakustik Premium MP3 (1,5meter) 0,2

I've had no time to do a sound test.

All these cables fit in the Philips X1.

The Inakustik Star MP3 cable fits the V-Moda LP2.

This is a good post. Probably gonna get the Inakustik Premium (9.8ft)... edit: BOUGHT.

I'm just using one of monoprice's new "mobile" 3.5mm cables (the same cables JDS labs sells as interconnects), usually with that replug break-away jack going into the X1 first.

Not sure if it's worth upgrading any more past that.  I haven't even compared it against the stock cable.

MLE, I guess if you feel like it later you compare the "Inakustik" cable to your mediabridge or whatever and let me know if there's any worthwhile improvement.  I'm not a cable freak so $20 is the max I would want to spend.  I don't want to mess with cables that much though.

It seems to have a cloth sleeve, and the color pops out to me, so I'll chalk this one up to my impulses. Lol. I guess im just afraid the Mediabridge cable might have a high impedance, though it's definitely cleaner than the stock cable, so I doubt it. At least I know the Inakustik cable is low ohm. The Inakustik star cable is like 8 dollars, btw. Not as fancy as the premium, but probably sounds the same, and has the same .2 impedance.

Thank you for the cables replacement list.

Question, have you compared the X1 to the Grado PS500 ?

Thx

Not sure you aimed that at me, but I have yet to hear a Grado. Been wanting to hear the SR80i for the longest time...

Not sure which one the PS500 is, but I've heard the Magnum v4.

I doubt you would like it too much, aside from just listening to it for curiosity's sake.

Question is to everybody that had a chance to compare X1 Vs Grado PS500 ;-)

wouldn't you say something not that mass popular like that http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0085LZ394/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER in my shopping cart crawling to be taken is certainly supposed to have more juice than some generic medialink stuff sold thousands to people? pricing policy and prodoxion quality aside, at least it's 2x price range?

I don't believe much in rarity/price = performance. Most of the time, you're paying for the name, aesthetics, and not actual performance. I don't believe in cables making a huge difference, though the X1's cable is an exception because it just has an unnaturally high impedance. I'm sure the difference between the mediabridge cable and the Inakustik is probably gonna be negligible to unnoticeable.

PS500 and x1 are very different. Heard both but with a long time in between. My memory sais that the ps500 has more punch but ofcourse less bass. ps500's are more open too. Price is much and much higher so not really comparable. They are very different.

Ok thanks, I remark you say "different" and not "better" about the PS500, interesting ;-) Do you think a PS500 "lover" can also like the X1 ?

Hey guys!

First of all I sincerely apologize if I am posting this in the wrong forum. Please do correct me if so!

I am so close to ordering the Fidelio X1, but I am also considering the AKG Q701, which is priced the same. I am also considering the Sennheiser HD598 and HD 650, but mostly looking at the X1 and Q701...

I have a Beyerdynamic DT770 PRO LE and a Audio-Technica ATH-M50. Love both of them, but want to take my listening to a new level with a pair of high quality open headphones primarily for use at home or at the cabin. When travelling to the cabin or other places I will use my Ipad, with or without an amp, but it would benefit me if the chosen pair of headphones could be used without an amp as well..

I want the best and most natural sound and listen to all genres of music.

The DT770 PRO and M50 are both bass-heavy, so the X1 might be the most similar to their sound.  The HD598 doesn't have a whole lot of bass, so you might not like it.  Q701 is fairly neutral but is pretty well balanced.  The HD650 might have the most natural timbre of the bunch.

There is no "best" sound since that's influenced by personal preferences.

Hmm, I don't know which one is better. I am thinking the ps500 but I really can't say since it's so long. But the ps500 has to be better since it's much more expensive. I know it's not always the case. I have compared the hd650 and x1 and found that the x1 has a little less detail than the hd650, maybe that's something you can relate to?

ps500 has an excellent soundstage and air. The x1's have a good soundstage too but less air. It sounds a little bit closed imo. This headphone might be a good addition for electronic music.

Do you know what you like about the ps500? And do you know what you seek in another headphone?
