I looked around online and people were saying that Amazon had a 30-day price guarantee for situations like this, so I contacted Amazon customer service.

They told me that the policy is valid if the price dropped within 7 days of the DELIVERY DATE of the product... and it has been 11 days since I got mine so they said they won't refund the 50 dollars.

They said I could return the headphones for a full refund and re-order them for the lower price if I wanted to... which I found pretty annoying.

What do you guys think about this? Should I even go through all the hassle?

Haha, I got boned too. Bought mine 10 days ago. Seems ironic that the reason I got them 10 days ago and not 7 is because I had them shipped with Amazon Prime. So, basically, if I didn't pay for the Amazon Prime service, I'd have a refund.

I knew this would happen sooner or later. The L1 goes for $100 under MSRP on Amazon so it was only a matter of time before the X1 followed suit.

Hopefully this means they'll go for $200-250 in the secondary market soon enough.

If I could afford both, I would. Voices are richer and more realistic off the Annies. For my EDM and fun gaming though, I give the edge to the X1 just based off it's sound signature (haven't gamed with them yet).

Oh man. Seems like I have to order these after all. Annies + K702 pads + X1 + K550 should cover everything I need from my headphones.

Lol, that's too many headphones for me. TBH, for me there isn't enough to warrant owning both, though I'd love to own both. I'd use both of them for the same things.

One open, one closed, one portable (and my portable would probably BE my closed headphone). That's as much as I'd want to own at once. My clip ons don't count, as they are a staple. The PLYR1 is situational, so that don't count either.

299 according to headphonia is  their MSRP for x1, amazon therefore had just made the price bloated until now.

what exactly make you like these cans soo much? if hd650 and hd702 are around this price range, which they are, what justify the existence of x1 being the go to choice? I don't care for build quality or comfort, the sound always comes first, unless it's unbearable like hd500's heft.

amazon refuses to price match and it's not likely you alone can make them change the policy, I see I am not alone in this regard, maybe we should make a petition for them to allow 30 day price match? or are we missing some trading secret here that makes them do this pathetic 7 day pricematch thing and make everyone return products that dropped major price like UPS need more packages to handle?

seems like this is the 9th symphony of Philips acoustic, so I took the plunge, they are going to be here tuesday. along with the cable, thx mLE.

This will hopefully be my nth and last full size can.

i have way too many and every time i get another one it is testing people's perception of my EQ and IQ, but hey, headphile and proud. I say let them laugh at me.

To each his own, mad you like to keep a few around, some people like me love to keep everything they buy--and  therefore I end up with a bunch,

I never felt justfied to sell none consumables. it's like you pay 2 livers to buy something and then sell it for one liver.

I had to pull arms and legs to get my price matching from Amazon after 10 days from delivery date. They refused to bite even after I mentioned I was a Prime member. I then complained and refused to return and re order for the price difference because it is such a hassle. It got to the point where I threatened to cancel my PS4 pre order and take my business elsewhere... then they bit and issued me a $50 Amazon credit... cool.gif

It has not applied yet, however. They said to wait one business day before it will automatically apply to an order sold and shipped by Amazon. I hope this is true...

It seems like it would be much less hassle for Amazon just to credit you the $50 without returning it.  Otherwise their out shipping costs for the replacement, they have to deal with you open box headphone, and they're still out $50.

keep in mind that it only helps YOU if you actually buy more stuff you NEED on amazon in the future, and it probably does not take 50 off your ps4 bill

even if you don't need anything from amazon, they lose nothing either way, if you buy more, at the most they are losing 50 bucks of sales, but at least you are still trafficing their site, and therefore likely to buy more as a returning customer.

amazon is successful for a reason

yeah i don't know what's up with that, any online sales insider care to iterate?

as customers it is really a shame .

I may not be able to apply it to my PS4 order but I sure can pre order Battlefield 4 with it. I'll wait a few days, though, because I am in need of a portable can to accommodate my X1 and Mad Dogs.

I mentioned that but they wouldn't bite until my threat, like I said. They were sticking to their policy, firmly.

Having worked in customer service before, I knew which strings to pull. Companies do not like orders of high cost being canceled when they actually can make an exception for what you are asking for to begin with.

Let us know once you find that portable. I love the MDs but they are not portable for my likings. One, they are too bulky... and two, it's too hot here. I have IEMs but would rather have something like a supra aural as an alternative. I have been told that the M80 may be a good choice but they don't isolate well from what I'm reading.

But let me get back on topic, here.

Having made the rounds testing some high end cans in the four figures, I still did like the x1 a lot. It was really enjoyable, and has high value for the sake that it works quite well with portables. Most other cans I liked required separate amps. THe X1 did give a sense of high apparent resolution than some of the Senn HD such as 650 although it really isn't. UL
